Everyone in SA claims to be a spurs fan, but good luck finding one that knows anything about basketball.

If that were the case then he would not be making top 25 in player's salaries. Now, do not get me wrong, he is a very honorable man that is very loyal to his people and wants to win a championship; but, the guy will get his money and do well with it. As far as us "building a team around him" he is underpaid. But, for what we get out of him, it is probably about right.

What we could get out of him is another story.

But, if he were to take a huge pay cut to win a championship we'd already have another superstar salivating to get over here so they could jump on this ship.

Or a Yao Cavs jersey - for about the 1,000,000th time on this board since Yao's arrival - jersey sale revenues are shared among teams.

We all know there are no jersey sales in china and everyone is wearing counterfeit jerseys that the nba sees no money from.

If Cleveland offered LBJ for Yao I would not even think 1 second on it. One is 24 and hardly ever injured the other is 28 going on 29 and has been injured for how many years? No brainer. Very unfortunately it will never ever happen.

OP, you were most likely listening to Mike Taylor (he's from Dallas by the way) and he LOVES to rip Houston as a city and our sports teams. I've been living here in the butt-hole of Texas (S.A.) for a few years now and actually met him once. I was wearing my old school Drexler U.H. jersey and he came right out and said, "Hey nice jersey."

I had had a few beers and instead of biting my tongue, I laid into him. Not literally, but verbally...he's a shrimp in person. Maybe 5'6", 160 lbs? Anyway, I kind of made an ass of myself but if you've ever listened to him, you understand. He back-peddled like nobody I've ever seen. :D

As a step further, virtually ALL revenue is shared. Making the playoffs helps because the employees (players, coaches, office staff) get extra pay and bonuses during the playoffs. But most of the revenue itself from ticket sales and TV goes to the league.

The Rockets organization gets very little direct financial benefit to having Yao on the team. Obviously, he's an amazing marketing tool to drive ticket sales but ticket revenue is also shared with the league.

LeBron and Yao are the only people they can create rumors about in San Antonio because they're both household names. :p

The only way Cavs make this deal is if they know Lebron is 100% leaving in 2010. This trade would give them a name that could continue to sell seats especially with this newly developing Chinese interest in Cleveland.

For the Rockets this would be a huge gamble for a one year rental like Lebron. But I would do everything short of jumping in front a bus to get my hands on him. Put Lebron in our lineup against the Lakers and you have the championship team. IF he can take the garbage in Cleveland to 67 wins then he can most certainly take our Game 7 team to the Finals and win. Everybody knows he can score lights out but the thing that killed him in the Magic series was he had to guard Lewis or Turkoglu and he was getting tired at the end of the game. That won't be happening in Houston because we have Battier and Ron to throw at Kobe or any other player on defense.

A pipe dream for a fan but interesting nonetheless.

You might be in for a surprise to know that the Rockets could still think twice if that trade was on the table. Point being is MONEY. Yao's China connection brings a lot of intangibles and $$$$$$ to the Rockets organization. However, you are correct that this trade will only be discussed in fantasy leagues.

Lebron is bigger than Yao despite what Yao fans think. I think I have seen more bron commercials in CHina than Yao ones.

the guys just pulled it out of his behind. how in the world do you trade someone like lebron? even if he is deemed to leave in free agency, the rockets would think twice about that because they'll have nothing in return when lebron does decide to take off..... another bs rumor

Neither team would do a trade, both players' names alone make their teams a healthy about of cash in merchandise and publicity. And as others say, both are going to be top dollar FA next season, if they want to be in a better position for a championship, it is very easy to make set up by accepting the right deals.

SA is pretty much a football centric town without a professional football team. There are some true Spurs fans but they aren't as big as the Dallas fans that are in the area.

Yeah, it's pretty funny because the radio guys will **** on the Mavs and Dallas in general, and then start gushing about the Cowboys in the next segment.
