Even though I like Yao, I would seriously consider this. Seriously... Serious. I'd probably make that trade. Yeah...
No way. You can do far better if you really made Yao available. I have no problem trading Yao in the right deal, but this isn't it.
i meant regarding yao in general, not just specifically this trade. i have explained numerous times in the past why i think trading him would be the smartest option for the franchise from a basketball perspective. i don't want to get into that again, but a common response was typically "what could you even get that would be equal value?" for a guy clearly on the decline with serious doubts pertaining to his ability to play even a full year injury-free, not to mention his shortcomings as a player, i think a #1 pick with fillers would be a great return.
it would be a great question, but unfortunately i don't think that could be intelligently discussed here.
I would trade Yao, but not for Camby + Griffin. I'm not sold on Griffin at all in the NBA. And Camby? Pfft.
Shortcomings yes, name 1 player that doesn't have short comings. He ain't perfect we all agree on that. Butterfinger, injury prone, etc Clearly on the decline??????? According to Daryl it was Yao's best year ever with his statistical analysis. If its all about numbers, his numbers are just about right, giving the fact we had Artest who was going to take some FGA. Look @ Celtics big 3, all 3 of their stats declined because they had to share the ball, only difference is their Big 3 had chemistry and was injury free. Nobody declared they declined that championship year. If you are talking about movement, than yes he is a step slower, but I wouldn't say he is clearly on a decline.
the fact that you somehow typed out a 4 paragraph response directed towards my claim of his imminent decline with no mention of his injury history deems this a conversation not worth engaging.
Yao are our of your mind, my friend. It is Yao's hayday rightnow, let him play, as I mentioned earlier, the injury problem could be solved by limiting his game under 65 each season, like Shaq did. again, it is too early to rebuild.
Ya i guess him playing 72 games for the Regular season doesn't count, because he got hurt in the playoffs....... Or the fact 2 of his 4 injuries, included a Toe infection and a broken kneecap caused by a player falling on his knee. All right, i guess trying to provide a reason is better than saying "Clearly on a decline" ......rightttttttttt
really? i can't help you if you don't see the relevance of a stress fracture from extended play in the postseason. here's a cookie for the 72 game regular season though.
I'm not sure Yao has shown heavy decline in his abilities yet. However, his injuries and shortcomings are evident and we should consider the possibility of trades now or in the future. I'm not sold on Griffin though; still an undersized pf. Even if he someday plays at Carlos Boozer's level, I'd still rather keep Yao than grab Griffin. Of course if this was about trading Yao for #1 pick during 03 Draft, I would definitely jump on board.
Ya i guess that clearly means he is on a decline. You are right, lets pre-judge a player, there is no hope for players who get injured and come back....I mean clearly look at Big Z, some of his best years was after his feet surgery. Yep clearly, we should write Yao off after 2 freak injuries, a broken right foot (caused by somebody stepping on it, which the Rockets can't pinpoint when exactly), and a stress fracture after 72 games, Bejing, ya da ya da. Clearly he had 4 season of stress fracture on the same foot, so he must be on a decline. Don't get me wrong, we are all disappointed @ his injuries, but I am not going to sit here and say clearly a decline when he was the Rockets best player last year. But meh whatever you have your own thoughts, ain't going to change your thoughts based on how your past posts. Useless arguement if people aren't willing to step out of the box.
No, because i believe we could get a better more proven star from a owner that wants cash cow..... Especially teams that are struggling with money(New Orleans, Indiana, Minnesota, etc.)..
First, Yao played 77 games last regular season. Second, Yao had a hairline fracture caused by twisted ankle last season. It is not stress fracture and not a serious injury. Yao even wanted to play in the 7th game vs Lakers. Do you have bad memory or intentionally mixed up the hairline fracture with stress fracture. Yao is injury prone. No one denies it. But you do not need to exaggerate.
