Due to some dumbass focus group, we are being deprived of Top Gear America. Maybe it wouldn't have worked, but I would like to have judged for myself. Anyways, the flagship version returns to British TV this coming weekend. You can watch the episodes the next day or 2 later at this site: http://hessmo.com/Hessmo/Top_Gear.html I seriously recommend this show. You don't even have to be a gear head to enjoy it, especially when they go on their adventures or races. <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nV1zWqxBVKc&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nV1zWqxBVKc&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
Good show, I wish there was a way I could consistently watch it here in the states. I don't like downloading stuff.
It's on ...BBC America all the time IIRC. Only thing I dislike is when they do the "celebrity" race in that ford. So boring to watch.
From what I can recall that segment is usually edited when it's on BBCA to cut the interviews/intros with the celebrity which kills the whole point. However I get the impression that you would probably need to be British to know who the hell some of the guests are. I usually skip it when that happens.
The link I posted lets you stream (no downloading required) every episode to date and puts them up within a day or two of their original broadcast.
I was listening to one of Carolla's (sp?) podcasts and he mentioned that there must have been millions spent on the Top Gear America pilot. He thought it was great fun and didn't understand why they wouldn't even air the pilot.
Hulu also has episodes of Top Gear, don't they? I always hear how great this show is...I need to watch it one of these days.
No, hulu links you to Top Gear's official US microsite. They have clips, but they want you to buy the eps on iTunes. I prefer the DVDs. But it's still a lot of seasons to buy so in the meantime, it's nice that hessmo.com has somehow managed to avoid getting shut down by the BBC.
I have been waiting for a long time for this. I recently re-watched some series 12 episodes and they were top notch: the communist cars, the American west, and the Vietnam special, which was one of the best pieces of television I've ever seen.
Obsessed with the show. Absolutely obsessed with it. And will be tapping my foot, waiting for the Bit Torrent to go up, this Sunday night. We've gotten three series' out of these guys in the last 12 months, and yet I'm anxious as hell to hear "to-night" for the first time, on Sunday.
My favorite episode is the caravan show (RVing). I still burst out laughing when James hits that pole. And then what follows is pure 3 Stooges gold.
I us to love watching that show on SPEED. the one I remember the most was the show where they put the Lancer Evo against the Lambo. That was a great show. To bad I don't have the SPEED channel anymore and I don't think I have BBC 2 also. And wasn't the show on the discovery channel too?
First episode is up here: http://hessmo.com/Hessmo/TG_Season_13.html A preview of what they did for the 13th series that aired at the start of the first ep: <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CVLk0FQrxb8&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CVLk0FQrxb8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
They just revealed who's Stig yesterday. You can check out youtube.com if you want to know. Very interesting, surprised but not surprised at the same time.
Obviously that was a joke. How would he have been able to fit time in to that while he was still racing? The thing is that the Ferrari they tested can only be driven by owners, so the Stig wouldn't be allowed to drive it. So he was the Stig for that one car.
I believe Stig can be more than one driver too. But I think the chances of that Gentlemen test drive for Top Gear are there though. Spoiler Given that he has been retired from racing for a number of years already.
