James has been working extremely hard over the offseason, and is drawing comparisons to Ariza. He is using his otherwordly to transform himself into a defensive menace as well as an offensive sparkplug off the bench. I always thought Flight could be everything Von was for us and more, and hopefully next year he can prove it on the hardwood. http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/The_White_Stuff_James_White_c-316401-34.html Here's the link to the article/video. Good luck Flight and keep up the hard work.
I hope he sticks around with the team. I think with the limited minutes he has played he has plaid solidly. If Wafer is out the door hopefully James can step in and fill that role.
Thank you for posting that! I love James White. He is one of my favourite young players in the game and when I look closer at him I really see Ariza. He does all the same thing. I could even say he can become (I mean James) a better shooter, he just needs to get playing time. As much as I like Von, I do belive White is more talented and will be a better player. The good thing is, Adelman likes young players and hopefully he will give James a shot. I love the guy. I expect a lot from him next season.
Trevor Ariza? isn't he like 6'10 or 6'11? He's long and tall. Not sure how tall JW is but I dont think he's in the Ariza mold.
Just watched the whole video, seems like he's got a nice shot and is working hard to improve it further. He also guaranteed his first dunk in a Rockets uniform in the first game of the preseason this fall.
I think James White is going to turn into what Von Wafer has become on this board.. An overhyped/ over rated player who is a bum.
Ariza is listed as 6'8" 210; but I think Ariza is actually around 6'9"/6'10" now. White is listed as 6'7" 200. But he looks smaller than Ariza on the court. It's more than an inch difference.
I look at James White like this, he is like a draft pick. Sure we may wind up with a first rounder, even a top 10 pick but when we brought James White in this past season, he was simply a project. We signed him on the cheap I am sure (never saw terms to his deal), but regardless, if we get any contribution at all, that's fine. I think had he been in the draft this year, we are looking at a guy in the top 10 easy. One thing I know, he is an athlete and you can never have to many of those type guys. Look at the Nuggets...
Anybody else find it interesting we're showcasing and talking up our 11th/12th men the closer draft day approaches? Last week it was Dorsey this week it's White. I have faith that both of them can contribute at an adequate level. Especially James White but it's funny these articles come out now.
LOL! You didn't read what Morey said about the NBA listed height. go check it up. Ariza might have been grown, who knows. For me, it's just a visual from TV. Even wearing a light color jersey may affect my visual comparison.
He did enter the league at 19 so it could be possible. He looked long as hell out there on the court this year.
