if we can get a legit starter and another rotational player for mac's expiring i'd be happy, but who knows, maybe mac might come out this year and play like he did a couple of years ago, i'd be happy if he was more of a faciliator rather than a chunk scorer.

I think if we traded with the Suns for Amare, they would want Aaron Brooks too, but I am ok with trading him cause we can possible buy a pick in the draft or we could sign a veteran point to back up Lowry. Amare is way to good to pass up and you only find a guy like him only once in a while. And if we got Richardson too we wouldn't have to worry so much about signing Wafer. He would be a good SG for the team.

Your suggestion of trading for the Knicks' Hughes and Harrington + #8 pick would be great for us, but I don't think NY would do it. They'd essentially be trading for an expiring contract that has the same value as the two that they're trading away (actually, McGrady's is about $400,000 less), AND throwing in a lottery pick. That seems too high a price when they don't even know if McGrady will be able to play this season. Maybe I'm missing something but even without the draft pick, I don't see the incentive for the Knicks to do this.

    Good thread though. :)

I disagree. The Knicks know they are not going anywhere and a "name" like McGrady could really help get the fans excited again. I don't think Hughes and Harrington are creating alot of buzz right now.

Giving up the #8 would be the cost of dealing for a chance at potential greatness if McGrady DOES comeback from his injury.

Plus I think the coach over in NY would like to see what he can do with McGrady. The Suns were one of the teams heavily after McGrady back in '04 when Houston landed him, maybe he'd still like a chance to coach him in his system and can get it done now on the cheap.

Hm, maybe you're right. If McGrady did come back healthy, it would be definitely be a good deal for the Knicks. And McGrady would love the attention of the NY limelight - unless the team starts losing and the NY media chew him up.

Well, if that's really the case, I'd like Morey to try to squeeze even more from the deal. I like the poster worzel gummidge's suggestion in the T-Mac Being Shopped thread, of getting Mobley's contract + Hughes/Lee, maybe even the #8 pick instead of Lee. Then follow it up with a second trade involving Mobley's contract and a role player.

Good job on the post. Like others have said I dont agree with all your selections but they are at least thought out.

I do think however that Sacramento is much more plausible then you listed. They are financially strapped and they love Brooks. Im sure they would at least listen to Tmac and Brooks for Kenny Thomas, Nocioni, Udrih, Jason Thompson and the #4.

Here is my thought process. They have been trying to dump Kenny Thomas for years. I think they regret the Udrih signing and Nocioni trade. Those guys are both locked up for the next four years but at least I see them both being in our rotation. Jason Thompson is a very promising 6'11 rookie PF who might be able to play some backup C. Im sure they would hate to lose him but you gotta give up young talent to dump salary, plus they get the PG they have coveted since the draft a couple years ago in Brooks.

For the Rockets, they only do this deal if in fact they are after Rubio and he is available at pick 4. Like you said, the divorce with Tmac is final. Lowry becomes our starting PG with Udrih backing him up until Rubio is ready (may not be next year). Nocioni gives toughness like Artest but not nearly as talented. Still he can hit the three and plays defense. Thompson takes Deke's spot on the roster and gives us another option at PF should a Landry deal present itself. Obviously we have to make more moves to have roster spots and we probably lose Chuck and/or Dorsey. You could still sign Artest and Nocioni comes off the bench as our first wing.

I think it all depends on how high Morey is on Rubio, if he is still available at #4, and how much do they want rid of Tmac.

Kenny Thomas expires this year anyway, so he's a throw-in to make the numbers work, and give us cap flexibility for next year when Scola and others need a raise.

Take Jason Thompson out of your equation, unless we sweeten the deal on our side, and maybe they'll bite.
