You guys are funny. You do realize the source is from Draft express. Its basically another hoops world.
Houston is much more likely to be a playoff team than New York, and needs a SG for its playoff run, so the premise is faulty. Nonetheless, for entertainment purposes only, would you consider TMac for Hughes, Curry and the #8 pick? This would give us a SG, backup center, and one of the 4 or 5 rookie PGs available in the lottery that the Rockets might be looking at.
Here's a different source: http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/blog/2009/06/tmac_attack.html
Sorry to burst your bubble but this would give us nothing but the 8th pick Im sorry but Larry Hughes is horrible. He can't be a Robin. He needs to be Batman. Eddie Curry is done. Mentally after everything he is going through with his family, him being robbed, all of that factors in. What they are left with is just the 8th pick. Even with all of that I say that is too much to give up for a guy who missed majority of the season and is coming off surgery. Also why would anyone want to trade with the Knicks???
T-mac for Larry Hughes???? Gotta be kidding me, that would be a terrible deal. Getting fleeced by the Knicks would be the worst thing possible.
Seriously, why bother trading t-mac for Larry Hughes???? Just play Von Wafer as the starter, he'd do a much better job than Hughes
Also, on a New York trade, we might also be able to throw in some additional players like Brian Cook, Chuck Hayes and/or Brent Barry, to give us some more wiggle room under the luxury tax threshold to resign Artest and/or Wafer. Still, I think we will have to take Curry's contract off NY's hands to make the deal work for them, as they probably want to free up more 2010 cap space for their LeBron dream.
On this we agree, the NY deal sucks...unless we get their pick too.....then maybe, but there has to be something better out there. However, it is clear he is being shopped, right now, isn't it? DD
if i had a choice of having tmac on the bench or larry hughes i would go with tmac every day of the week and twice on sundays that is just laughable if you are trading with the knicks either david lee or the pick comes over preferably both. at this point unless DM can move him for a good package in the offseason it maybe best to wait it out and see till the trade deadline
Not sure what is your meaning by "being shopped", but are the Rockets interested in seeing what they can get for T-mac? Absolutely. Does that mean they will make a deal - No. If we make a deal for T-mac we better get a guy who can back-up Yao a bit and someone who can address the hole that will be created by losing a triple-threat player. I think Morey knows that. If the Knicks gave us their pick AND David Lee, I think you make that deal. But I don't think the Knicks would do that.
Can you imagine getting Joe Johnson? Sigh, if only. We'd be trading the former smoothest player in the league for the heir apparent. JJ would be a joy to watch in a Rockets uniform, and his game would be a welcome change from Artest's twitch and shudder offensive arsenal.
If Cook is included it frees up an extra $2.8M of salary space for the Rockets. This is helpful if they intend to re-sign Artest. Also with Mobley, even though his salary counts towards the salary cap fully, the Rockets themselves are only paying $1.9M of his $9.5M contract. An insurance company is covering the rest.
