The Pistons could be entertaining the idea of trading guard Richard Hamilton. Detroit has already broken up part of their championship roster from earlier this decade, and Rasheed Wallace is expected to leave via free agency this summer. The Pistons have sizable cap room, and one of their expected targets is free-agent shooting guard Ben Gordon. Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2009/columns/story?columnist=adande_ja&page=odomariza-090613 Rockets may actually have interest in this. He is a REALLY good off the screen guy so we can use him in many ways. Maybe a sign and trade for Ron Artest?
The Detroit Pistons would welcome Ron Artest with open handcuffs. Nope. Detroit hometown boy Shane Battier + whomever else, MAYBE, but I doubt even that.
TMAC to Chicago Gordon to Detroit Artest to Detroit [or Shane and Wafer] . . . maybe even Scola OR Landry [not both] Rip to Houston Deng to Houston Rocket River
I see Rip being very effective with Yao. Could someone explain my intuition here. Something about coming off screens, movement, scoring... team player...
that's weird. i thought they traded away billups so they can have cap space for 2010 and signed rip until 2013. now theyre gonna trade him away?
Screw getting Rip Hamilton. Tracy average more points per game than Hamilton last year. He's probably over the hill now and the Pistons know that and want him gone. We still dont know what Tracy has left and Rip I also think Rip isn't the answer too. WE NEED AMARE!
Rip has lost a lot, playing hard his entire career has obviously taken a toll on him whether he wants to admit it or not. i like the idea of a SG who can come off screens and hit the mid range jumper with regularity, but not Rip.
Rip isn't the complete answer, but I think he is part of it. The Rox should really go for Rip and also look for a Backup C. If we can't get Rip, let's try Tayshaun. Rip would be better offensively for the Adelman system. Tayshaun is better for everything else. He can shoot 3's and has the defense (and great locker room personality) we need to make Battier expendable. Or Make artest epndable and have to of the best glue guys in the league on the same team.
I think a S&T with Chicago is worlds more likely, but I would enjoy Rip on the team. He's not a star, but his work ethic and on court personality fit extremely well with ours (minus McGrady). Dead eye shooters next to Yao are exactly what we need on offense. Evan
I have been hoping Rip would be in a Rockets uniform for 2 years now. I think he would be great here. If Detroit wants to dump salary because of so much uncertainty in Detroit, take a T-Mac expiring deal. The championship window has closed for them with teams like Orlando and Cleveland improving so much in the last couple of years. Might as well reboot and start over.
He would be a one season rental, unless we were willing to sign him to an extension. Is it worth it? The guy is 31... 32 by the middle of next season. He'd be a big asset, but I think I'd rather have someone a bit younger and on a better contract, unless we're looking for an expiring contract. I thought that was what the other teams were looking for? Rip would want at least 3 years at a good salary. We'd need more from Detroit or in a 3 way trade.
i think rip is starting on his decline, still an effective player but on his decline you never want to give up an asset for a player on the decline. i mean if it was rip + others than sure, but a package where its mainly just rip and tmac is not good imo. there has to be other fillers somewhere that can actually be contributors to the team.
Rip's only 31 years old, players like him usually can play into their late 30's and still be effective.
Our core will have to be broken up for him. That's too risky. There is no way that Detroit would take him for Ron,they don't need McGrady's contract either. A 3 way deal will be very hard to pull off.
