Rip is a disciplined player who plays within himself.Even if the Pistons would want Ron,which I doubt, they are unlikely to entertain this idea.
Ron's higher EFF of 12.85 vs Rip's 10.25 and better defense aren't going to be enough.

Talk about rebuilding the Bad Boys. Iverson, Artest and Rasheed on one team...... If they will take Ron Artest for Rip Hamilton I would jump on that deal in a heart beat. I'll take Rip Hamilton in a heart beat. He plays good team D, has a good shot and definitely can move around without the ball.

Did anyone even listen to what the guy said? He said, "First of all, it's not gonna happen" in regards to him playing for Detroit. His only point was that if he had to (if he got traded there or something) he would, without a problem. He made it pretty clear that he wants to stay in Houston, and that Detroit is probably one of his last choices.

We are aware of that. We are just discussing the hypothetical possibility of him going there.

No, it seems that the majority of people that posted in here were not aware of that.

Rip would be ok on offense but defensively, he's a bit small. If we had a big PG, then it would be ok. As it is, Brooks and Scola are already undersized, back up C, too. For these reasons, I'd rather have Artest.

I also believe Artest's ankle wasn't 100% in the playoffs, which slowed him down on both ends.

I'll rent a limo and drive him to the airport myself.

I agree...I'd like to the Gordon over here...we shouldn't trade Scola. No no no. We need him. And Amare would be great over here. Maybe we can give Artest to them?

I've heard a lot of people say that about his ankle (that is wasn't 100%), and I agree that it could be true, but I'd personally be more comforted if somebody would come out and say that about his ankle. Maybe Ron, maybe somebody from the Rockets org, it'd be nice to hear from somebody. Maybe they already have and I just haven't seen it...

To have any hope that Ron could be better/quicker than last season would make me feel a lot better about the higher salary the Rockets will have to pay to keep Ron.

I would do the Rip for Ron trade......it makes the Rockets more diverse.

    Re-sign Von Wafer....

Trade Tmac for another wing and backup center...and go to war.

as some have stated, ronron is just posturing himself to get the best deal he can, without stepping on the toes of the folks feeding him currently. He's making it clear that he can, and would, play anywhere, but also that he wants to stay. This just means he doesn't want to be in a last year's landry position of being low-balled up front, and is trying to quell the perceptions that his options might be limited in any way.
