Ricky Rubio and Lowry will offer distinct styles also. It's too bad Rubio doesn't have an NBA body yet. It's another year of sucky PG play for us.

someone's been reading the statements made by jennings today...

Im not that high on Jennings right now- last year people were saying he would probably be a lottery pick in the draft this year, but after spurning college for Europe, his stock has dropped a bit as he has shown some immaturity. There were many reports of his difficulty of grasping and playing within the system. His scouting report isnt great, and one line in particular would drive me insane- goes for the flashy play rather than the simple correct one.

that being said, I don't know what to think of rubio because the only exposure I have to him is from the olympics, which I dont find to be an adequate measuring stick.

I sure hope this a smoke screen. I hope we don't get taken to the cleaners again by Portland.

Are you serious? This trade is flatout terrible for the Kings. I mean it's not even in the planet when it comes to being a fair deal. This is like offering T-Mac for Kobe.

Am I the only one that thinks Lowry can, and should be our starting PG next year if we keep the Brooks/Lowry combo? All he really needs to do is work on his jumper, and I thought Morey said they planned on tweaking his shot this summer in an interview sometime ago. I could have sworn half the board was in favor of Lowry getting the reigns next year before a couple of very good Brooks game against LA (mixed with some clunkers as well). Is giving him the keys to the car really that much worse than giving them to Brooks?

    I hope it's Tyreke Evans.

Him and T-Mac in the backcourt would be deadly.

We would have a huge backcourt and a solid frontcourt as well.

Both of them are backup PG's.If management keeps them,Lowry should start. He is a hard worker,I expect his outside shot to be somewhat better next season.Brooks will get better with time too,but Lowry has better court vision and passing ability.

If Morey is not trying to get Rubio, then i think he should stop trying to get a PG because i am satisfied with Brooks and Lowry.

If he can move up and get Rubio (future All-Star imo), then by all mean trade Aaron Brooks because we don't need too many PGs. Then try to trade Tmac as well and get a Center or SG that can create play for others.

    (On to 30+ pages.)

Doc, is this a target for the team or a target for a trade? (In your non-official personal opinion of course.)

I don't think Rubio is overrated, just not ready for the NBA yet.

Yes, you can call people overrated/going to be a bust before they even play one NBA game.

But there are some players who destroy these low expectations.

Anyone remember the deal of Robert "Tractor" Traylor for Dirk Nowitzki?

Like Rubio, Dirk hadn't played in an American system yet, as neither went to college here.

Sure, Rubio is raw, but I would definitely take him, if he wants to come here and play.

Sometimes, you HAVE to go for the hype.

Why else was LeBron James, a high school kid, taken over Carmelo Anthony and D-Wade, both of whom had GREAT collegiate careers?

    Hype.

I want Johnny Flynn. I posted it in another thread. I want Flynn to run point and Brooks (aka The Blur....nicely coined name...can't remember who came up with it) for our backcourt. It would give us a very small backcourt, but probably the fastest backcourt in the league.

This quickness would be excellent for a small, Yao-less squad. But, Flynn would be the perfect point guard for a system run through Yao. He's a pass-first guy that has excellent handles, vision, and a decent shot. We could have him at about pick 5 to 8, to boot.

I also posted this in another thread: I think in his prime, Flynn will average something like 14 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds, and about 2 steals a game. His rookie season, I see him averaging about 10 points and 7 assists a game. I have been right on these types of things before (see: I predicted Yao's rookie season stats, pretty much to a tee) He's about the closest thing there could be to a Rajon Rondo-type player. Or, I would call him Tj Ford with a much better shot.

I say all this not only because I think he would be a great fit, but because I've watched him play since high school.

Also, please say no to Steph Curry. We've all seen what happened to JJ Reddick.

    Brandon Jennings, o boy.

Look at his Eurostats and tell me one reason why we should be interested in him, especially if you are throwing off on Rubio's Eurostats.

    Here's a dream trade scenario:

    Knicks get:
    TMac
    Landry
    Future 1st

    We get:
    Eddy Curry
    Jared Jeffries
    Cuttino Mobley's contract
    #8 Overall

It works! Get it done Morey!

Not that the Knicks would ever do this. We might have to throw in Brooks or Lowry for them to even talk to us.

This gives us a serviceable backup center in Eddy Curry. Not great, but serviceable. Jared Jeffries would be a nice backup at Small Forward. Both of these guys also have 2 years on the books. Mobley's contract is thrown in for money purposes, to make it work. That comes off the books next year.

Why it works for the Knicks:
This would mean that every single contract on their team comes off the books except for 3.(Landry's, Wilson Chandler's, and Danillo Gallanari's) This basically gives them the sales pitch to Lebron that he could almost pick and choose a team of free agents if he comes to the Knicks (other than a couple good, young players).

Get it done Morey. Draft Johnny Flynn at number 8.

In order for us to land a lottery pick of any type, we're going to have to get "raped." Especially to homer-fans' standards.

Assuming this is true, you have to believe AB's being dangled as trade-bait everywhere.

And while his stock may be at a forever-all-time high it's just hard to imagine that Morey is as high on Lowry as he's said. And it's more difficult for me to believe that Adelman is down with starting Lowry or a rookie pg in his contract year.

The Rafer trade was Morey stepping outside of the box more than he has been give credit/blame for, but us going after a pg with a lottery pick is pretty radical.

Methinks Morey is about to do something most of us will consider to be a "reach". Well, he's built up his cred, so it's probably about time he does.

I trust adelman and I know this isn't something he wants. It makes zero sense. If u want to upgrade the pg spot, go get baron, not another young guy.

If Baron was willing to take a rookie contract, the rockets would go after him for sure! ;)

I really thought our PG position was solidified with Brooks/Lowry...but they are a bit undersized and the potential of these 4-5 pg's in the draft is tremendous, especially Rubio..I hope we get him..
