this from above was particularly well stated:...Issues are fair game, sexist treatment should not be.

And frankly our country deserves better. In 2008, we passed a major milestone in electing our country's first African American president. And now suddenly comes an awareness that, yes, our country can take great pride in our advances against racism; but at the same time comes a realization that perhaps we have not yet come so far in our battle against sexism.

But times they are a changing and one can see, that ever so slowly, the country is having some "wait-a-minute-that's-not-right" moments. To realize, yes, we have a come a long way baby - but we still need to travel that last mile. And that last mile is eradicating the roots of sexism and misogyny, deeply buried in darkness, ignorance and bias.

Never thought I'd agree with huffington, but they have a point...

50 years ago a public racist joke was deemed "just a joke",...today we know better.
50 years from now, perhaps we will know even better.

Or when Ms. California, Carrie Prejean, voices her point of view on gay marriage and then becomes the target of an objectifying sexist rant by Keith Olbermann, where's the outrage? Carrie is entitled to her point of view, and if you don't agree explain why -- don't diminish her opinion by turning her into a sexual object.

I'm sorry, but when you are a contestant in a Miss America beauty pageant, you are objectifying yourself in a way that 1,000,000 Keith Olberman rants could never hope to match. This is just silly.

And by the way, Carrie Prejean has done more to force the issue with respect to her “problems” with the pageant people than everybody else combined. At some point, it appears that she decided that being a conservative martyr was more profitable for her future than being Miss America.

    I don't get it.

Because Obama won we're "past" racism?

And because Hillary lost we're "still" sexist?

A rant is fine on the issues...BUT not when being sexist about it enters the picture.

Women deserve better. Your mother, your sister deserves better.

People say racism exists when one makes a racist joke...There are people that think making racist jokes is just a joke just like there are people that think making sexist jokes is just a joke. One day, just like the civil rights movement we will progress or at least I hope.

It's apparently acceptable on talk radio, where Limbaugh can call women "feminazis," Glenn Beck can say, "If you're an ugly woman, you're probably a liberal as well" and Michael Savage can say "gays are like little girls" and "we're turning into a nation of p*****s."

And so many people listen to them.

That would be true for women who haven't already turned themselves into an object. It's like getting offended if people look at a p*rn and make crude and lewd comments. If you don't want people to comment on your junk, don't get in front of the camera with your clothes off.

If you don't like the fact that your name is in the papers, don't become a public figure. If you don't want people to make sexist comments, don't enter a sexist, mysogenistic flesh-show "beauty" pagent.

I definitely agree with this. There's a fine line between "not holding back" and keeping gender out of it, though. It seems like in every area, from politics to sports to business, when women are attacked, people make sure to slip in a joke about female competency.

But for instance, when someone says, "I would never talk to a woman that way"...I think, why?

I think Political Correctness is the problem. If you get "offended" by things people say, grow a spine. Who cares! It's words. Get over it.

By the way......racism is one million % more prevalent in this country than sexism. People just focus their attention on sexism cause they are uncomfortable with the whole racism talk. Someone calls you a sexist.....you probably are more likely to agree and laugh.......same can not be said about racism.

Hate to point out the obvious, but in general, men and women are fundamentally different physically and mentally.

People tend to forget that in the "everyone is equal" mantra and tend to pounce on matters that aren't hatefully intended.

Agreed. PC is becoming a huge problem. Some people have a sense of humor. Some don't. Why should those who find humor any anything be persecuted in the name of political correctness and be labeled a bigot? There are plenty of things I don't find amusing (vast majority of comedy coming from hollywood) but there are very few subjects that I find are unacceptable. You can make a crack about my sex, race, age, religion, ect... and it won't bother me. The moment you intend to inflict harm is something totally different.

What does talking about NY being a slimehole have anything to do with being a Rockets fan or what NY"s perception of Houston is?

I think you are a very confused man.

It's a slimehole because of the people who inhabit it.

And that guy you quoted, yeah I have no idea wtf he is talking about. What does NY being a slimehole have anything to do with the Rockets.

And ill admit I'm a sexist, i dont think a woman should be the leader of the free world.
