If we draft Ming… does that mean that Cato will soon be packing? While it would certainly be nice to have a Ming/Cato combo throughout next year, I would think that several Lotto teams might be interested in any combo of Cato, K. Thomas, and our #15. Possibly L.A.C…Cato would be cheaper than Candy, Memphis…West does not seem sold on Swift, Washington…I think they feel they made a mistake in last years draft, and the New York who need everything but 2/3’s.

Would any of these teams consider trading their #1’s? I don’t know. But, most of them are shopping for centers or big men in the draft (L.A.C a point guard as well). Do you go with an unproven NBA player (as we are) or do you go with someone you know what to expect? Cato is overpriced, but he should be an 8-10/10 type player that can change shots up the middle.

Just thought I would throw that out at you and see what people think.

Could we end up with a Swift or K. Brown type player plus a higher pick? Memphis’ pick is a little high, but you never know.

He'll be our backup. An expensive one, but he'll provide an extra body to throw at Shaq. During the first couple of years he will most likely be splitting time with Ming due to foul trouble.

I think we should trade him to the Bulls for their #1 and Curry.

And they'll do it because Jerry Krause is fat and shrewd.

His sorry ass needs to go....He fits NOWHERE in the setup that the Rockets are going to have when Ming arrives. Cato is just sorry....he is a power forward trying to be a center. He does everything defensively, but on offense, he is like Shaq on free throws.....HE SUCKS!! The guy has to go. We have to dump him on some sucker team who can eat up his salary. It was a waste to pick him up in the trade for Drexler. I hope they can try to pull off a steal and grab someone or a draft pick for his sorry ass.

    K. Brown as in last year's #1 pick, fresh out of high school? Don't count on it. (Is Cato better than Brendan Haywood, or Jahidi White?).

You could possibly send him East-but you're not going to get lottery type return for him.

We actually will probably need him-I think it's been shown to get through the Lakers you need at least 2, preferably 3 big men capable of playing center adequately. Shaq was able to foul out Divac and Pollard, and get Webber in serious foul trouble-none of our big men are as smart defensively as Divac or Webber.

I don't think it's set in stone that Ming will start day 1-we've yet to see exactly how NBA-ready he is, and it's a good idea to keep a guy around who could start if he isn't ready.

I'd say keep him for now. Yao will take time to develop... Another option would be to have him play the 4. If Ming pulls away the opposing center, Cato will have a field day with alley oops over shorter PFs. The even bigger option will be Steve breaking the defense down on a pick by Ming and if cato's man comes to help he gets the dish from Stevie. I think Cato will mix very well with Ming, much better than MoTaylor. I am really concerned with a Ming/Mo lineup at 5/4. What do you do with 2 jump-shooting big men in the lineup? Cato, Griffin and Kenny will have much better chemistry with Ming, I think.

I think we should get Ming from China and send Cato's sorry ass to China so they can chew on his contract!

That would be when we traded Pippen to Portland for Cato and Williams. How can you not remember that one?

He should be, but he's none of those things. The only shots he changes are if he double pumps on a layup.

No, it wasnt the trade involving the classy Clyde Drexler, it was the trade giving up the girly Scottie Pippen.

Cato was one of the 6 players the Rockets got from Portland when they pawned off Scottie Pippen. Talk about your sorry asses!

It's obvious you keep Cato. The guy knows the system, gets along with the players, and fits with the team. How many teams would kill to have a 7-foot, athletic center who can block shots, rebound, and run the floor as a back-up center? I know I would love to have that with the Rockets. Have to keep him unless someone offers something enticing for him.

The Rockets would have been one of the teams until we won the lottery. For a minute you made Cato sound like he was at least decent. He'll play his 13-15minutes and hopefully he can come in and be productive in those minutes, but i'm to the point where i don't expect much of anything out of cato
