Mo said he thought it was nice Yao was concerned about him and that it would be great to play with a big man like Yao. He also said it showed that he was concerned about his teammates and that is important in the NBA. Taylor looked good and appeared to be working his ass off at Westside when they interviewed him.
So the interview was at Westside? Rocket!!! had mentioned that Mo had been keeping out of sight (sort of). Great that he's back in the public arena. Did he talk about himself at all? How's he feeling?
I have to say while I been following the "CHASE FOR MING" soap opera on this bbs (thanks Clutch) and watching it playout. In the back of my mind I've had two other concerns. (also what seems to be the concerns of many on this board). How will we strengthen the 3 spot. And 2 is Mo taylor really fatty fat and if so well he do something about it and can he comeback from the injury. I find it amazing that one man halfway around the world voiced the second concern and even more amazing that we got an answer less than 24 hours from Mo Taylor himself. Mo taylor is well and working hard to comeback and report's of his death have been greatly exaggerated. Amazing! I love this site. Oh one other thought. Maybe Ming is more than just a great basketball player. Maybe Ming is also a shaman. SHAMAN MING!
Also, I recall seeing Mo working out as Westside when they interviewed him when we first found out we got the #1 pick. They only showed a head shot, but he had worked up a pretty good sweat. It seems like he's not just sitting around like some people claim. PS- I think Mo is just happy he won't have to play center.
Anybody think that Ming has heard that Cuttino/Francis would rather trade the pick? Kind of ironic that he only mentioned Griffin & Taylor.
We can't really know that. Rudy and CD mentioned ONLY Taylor and Griffin in their comments but they also said he asked about a number of players. We don't really know who those players were so we cannot really make the determination that he talked or didn't talk about Francis and Mobley.
http://www.clutchcity.net/news.cfm?NewsID=1010 CD said he mentioned KT and Rice also ..... I can see CD asking him if he knows of our guards... "ahh yes, Moochie and Oscar."
I bet Yao had a little corner of his mouth turned up when he asked about Mo's health. As in: How soon could he have come back if you'd wanted him to? Nice tank job.
CD did say on the Southwest Sports Report that he asked about Steve and Mobley, as well as Mo, Rice, KT and Griff.
I didn't see the early news but I saw the interview with Mo on Ch 2's 10pm news. He said something to the effect: "...I don't want to sound cocky but if we are going to win I have to play", in reaction to hearing that Yao had asked about his health. os
For those of you overly concerned about Mo Taylor being too overweight to play effectively, just remember that when he came on strong at the end of the 2001 season, his playing weight was about 270 lbs. Honestly, I think Taylor's physique is similar to Shaq's in that he was very strong and thick in his body but has the slight look of a small layer of baby fat on the top. But you can still tell that he's got tons of muscle under it. If Taylor continues to work out and rehab his injury, then he'll be fine and back in the starting lineup where he belongs. Expect good things from Taylor this year.
