Butler, Hilario, Dunleavy. I would take any one of those guys over Ming. Also, I don't think it is out of the question that we could come away with two of those guys(Butler/Dunleavy and Hilario). Here is my proposal for what it's worth:

Three way trade between Rockets, Cavs, and Clippers.

Rockets trade: #1, Glen Rice, #15
    Cavs trade: #6
Clippers trade: Lamar Odom, #8, #12

    Rockets get: #6(Mike Dunleavy/Caron Butler), #8(Nene Hilario), #12
    Cavs get: Lamar Odom
Clippers get: #1(Jay Williams), Glen Rice, #15

I'm not sure if this would work but I think it makes fair sense for all teams. Personally I would rather have Dunleavy or Butler than Odom even though I love Odom. Lamar's a free agent next year and the other guys would be signed for a few.

    My 3 favorites would be:

    Ming

    Dunleavy

    Hilario

In that order, Ming will bring a circus side show appeal to the Rockets something that this franchise has never had.

Dunleavy is a solid 3 and could bring skills that make the Rockets better.

Hilario is a banger. He would provide exceptional rebounding and shot block.

You make the call. Getting one of these players is a good draft. If we could get two, then it would be a great draft.

#1 - Yao Ming (or trade down to get Caron Butler)

#15 - Bostjan Nachbar or Nene Hilario

#38 (if we have it) - Casey Jacobson or some Euro to stash away in Europe for a couple of years to season

#53 (if we're stuck down there) - Lee Benson or a Euro (see above)

With #1 I'd trade down and take: Dunleavy, Gooden or Butler in that order.

With #15 I like Borchardt, Hilario, Ely, Jeffries or Rush in that order.

I'd very strongly consider the rumored ESPN insider deal for McDyess and #5 for #1 and Mo Taylor and Eddie Griffin. While it would cost us Eddie Griffin (and I truely hate that), it would do wonders for future cap space to get rid Taylors contract, and Glen Rice's $10M comes off the books in two years. McDyess would instantly give us the low post game weve been lacking. And we would most likely get either Dunleavy, Butler or Gooden at #5. And then probably Ely at #15 in a worst case.
This lineup would work for me:

    C: Cato, Ely, Collier
    PF: McDyess, Thomas
    SF: Butler/Dunleavy/Gooden, Rice, Morris
    SG: Mobley, ?
    PG: Francis, Norris

IMO, this lineup looks better than any scenario I pencil with Ming in it, and we don't have the all of the potential uncertainties that go along with taking Ming #1 (Chinese govt, foot/ankle problems, softness inside, NBA bust potential, etc).

I would like Ming, Woods, and Stoudamire/Hillario in that order. I have said all along that we should make a run at Woods, and I believe that if we get creative with that 15th maybe KT, MoT, Mooch that this can indeed come to fruition. Let's break those Lakers hearts;)
