From the sound of interview it sounds like the guy interviewing is talking about Daryl Morey, not very sure if Joey got confused and thinks they are bringing in some guy name Daryl or what....
DD, not to make excuses for the kid, but I have had plantar fasciitis problems and my friend it is a debilitating injury that is so damn painfull. Its an injury that never seems to heal with no pun intended, especially when you ball alot. Looks like someone has been working with little Joey because the form on his jumper has dramatically improved and the kid is chiseled. He's finally starting to get it together.
he doesnt need those things. he is both healthy and dedicated already. what he needs is to get fundamentally skilled. he needs practice and repetition. he needs a playbook and time to study it. he needs film session time on defensive rotations, helping the helper, how to play the weakside, using proper defensive leverage & footwork, etc. in truth, he needs to become a better basketball player. everything else he already has.
God! The Rockets SERIOUSLY have one of...if not THE UGLIEST website I have ever seen. All those ads on the right side. The Rockets site SUCKS compared to a number of other NBA teams. Including a couple that I hate (the teams...not the sites).
That dude has the biggest shoulders I have ever seen in pro basketball. If he was 7 ft tall he would be 300lb. I'm not optimistic about his chances of helping the team. I just think as raw as he was coming into the league there isn't enough time for him to develop into a competent NBA player. People keep mentioning Chuck Hayes but this kid is not Chuck. Players like Chuck are very rare commodity in that he is super strong down low, plays 100% at all times but he is also a very, very smart player with basketball instincts as good as anyone. I hope Dorsey breaks out this season and proves me wrong.
He is saying the right things in this video. I like his attitude. There's no reason he can't have a role on this team. He has some attributes that are exceptional.
Coach Carroll is CD. CD has always been a coach to Dorsey so that's why he refers to him as Coach Carroll. And the other guy is Darryl Watkins who played a stint with Sac and then tried out with the spurs last year but was cut. So he played in the China League.
How did Dorsey become one of the best defensive players in college? Was any of it due to b-ball IQ or was it purely on athleticism? Morey must have seen something in him.
Big body, athleticism and some skill. I think he has a lot of offer to this team as long as he keeps working hard and strives to get better. I like his eagerness/enthusiasm to learn D from Chuck and O from Scola.
I remember watching him jump up from a standing position and dunking the ball. I was thinking "man this guy's got tremendous hops." Usually, guys need at least a running start to push off. Joey's got powerful legs.
