http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Summer_School_Joey_Dorsey_Wor-316026-34.html Real please to hear he's working hard already. Man the guy look like a freakin MONSTER. If he can only put 70% of them muscle to use we'll be ok next year.
i thought this thread was going to be an announcement that he had discovered the functional use of his wrist*... *see carrol dawson - kelvin cato training video part II.
he's shooting form has vastly improved from last summer. his physique has vastly improved from last summer. he has all of the tools to be a mix of landry and chuck. but does he have the IQ? hearing him speak reminds me of stromile swift, another all potential guy who was never able to learn the defensive rotations, or offensive sets.
not to be cocky or anything, but Sean Respert's description of Joey and his value is like a carbon copy of what I said in one of the recent Joey threads. I must be smart or something haha.
I'm pleased with his attitude and that he took it very hard that he wasn't able to come and help the team when we needed size. His willingness to learn is a big positive in this day and age when a lot of young players just want to come in and try to act like individuals. Eventually it would be nice to see if he could develop into a bigger, more athletic Chuck Hayes but with freakish dunking ability that would make him a little more of a threat off the pick and roll, ala Tyson Chandler. Either way, its yet another low-risk high reward move that Morey made that could end up in our favor.
If he has the right attitude and work ethic on and off the court, he will be huge for the Rockets next season. But at this point, I have more doubt than confidence on him.
He's got all the physical traits to be a Ben Wallace clone, but the mental aspects might not be present at all.
Come on Joey. I know plantar fasciitis really sucks but show us and the team something during summer league.
Wait, who the hell is the other big guy in gray t-shirt practicing in that video? Dorsey said something about "With them brininging in 'Daryl' (or something) it's another thing to motivate me." Who is this "Daryl"?
There were multiple references of joey being "lengthy". In the article it even saids he's 6'9", which we all know is false. his pre-draft came out to 6'6" w/o shoes and 6'7" with. So how much size does he REALLY bring? Yeah when we're comparing him to chuck hayes and landry, he does have more bulk, but most of the time he's goign to be defending bigger players. I guess having a 7'2" wingspan might help. I think he'll get into alot of foul trouble, for his first "real" season at least. Good article though, and his jump hooks were actually going in the hoop, LOL. There were a lot of encouraging quotes in there. Hopefully he can become a solid backup for us.
man give the dude a chance. From the interviewed, he seems to be motivated and wanted to prove himself. What more can you ask out of a second year rookie? He's staying in town and working out with the team while most are out vacationing or hanging out at the Playboy mansion *cough *cough!!!
