Not quite understanding why no foul on KB in regards to elbow to JNelson? Anyone have a replay of that to post? If a foul had been called on KB - I think it would have changed the whole rest of the game. ie no 3 pointer for Fisher and foul shots for JN. Would really like to see slo-mo replay of that.
Man would you just SHAaaaaTIT!?? why not a lose-ball on Howard when he pushed KB down, and why not foul on Petris when he hit Kobe's hand? Here's my justification as to why they were non-calls: -Kobe's shot was already out of his hands and high-fiving him does not affect the shot (apparently) -Fisher was pushing on Howard when Pau (again, apparently) 'Flopped' (this one im certain) -Nelson was running into Kobe and Kboe was trying to create space. Normaly the elbow never gets called unless you hit the man who is ACTUALLY DEFENDING YOU. Lots of calls would have changed the game. But here's my question: WHY CANT THE MAGIC MAKE FREE THROWS? "I think it would have changed the whole rest of the game." What I'm saying is that one can argue that the Lakers aren't as strong as many of the past champ teams but how in the world can you argue that the Magic are getting hustled by the refs?

Nelson is way too much of a defensive liability, IMHO, for more than 10 mpg in the NBA finals. Maybe if he was an amazing offensive force, but he's just an okay playmaker.
No, that is not idiocy- many individuals over the years have been elbowed who were not directly defending the person with the ball, and referees do not call it the same way they do when it's done to the person directly defending the ball handler. If the elbow was thrown on Pietraus, I guarantee you it would have been called. But Nelson ran up to double-team and the sequence of events was too quick at the time for a referee to say with certainly that Kobe intentionally fouled him. It was not blatant enough nor definitive enough to justify people saying that they gave Kobe the star treatment.
im pretty sure the rules dont differentiate with regards to who the foul is committed on and whether or not it should be called. i would not argue that a missed call is probably more likely on a help defender because the refs might not be keyed in on them, but to say that that is how it is supposed to be officiated is just wrong. but it wasnt just that it was an elbow, it was an elbow to the head, which i thought was an automatic flagrant. and it wasnt just that it was an elbow to the head from anyone, but it was from kobe who has a years-long established history of elbowing people in the head in the same manner that he did nelson (raising the ball up and swinging elbows directly into defender). its absolutely intentional and he gets away with it time and time again. he has been doing this his whole career, but the playoffs this year have seen him take it to a new level. this is more about kobe being able to get away with flagrant fouls over and over again and in this case, it probably was the series. yeah, turky and howard missed some key free throws down the stretch that would have invalidated the whole argument, but if kobe had been called for an offensive (flagrant) foul as he should have, fishers 3 wouldnt have counted and orlando would have closed it out. could-of-should-of-would-have, sure, BUT...if that foul was properly called this series would look quite different right now.
Nelson is a bad defender. There's no secret about it. He never has the tools or size to become a good defender. I think Nelson is actually 5'10" with short arms. Nelson won't be an "amazing" offensive force. He's only got a half season hot shootings. His shooting form doesn't show me he's an "amazing" shooter. I doubt Nelson will shoot .50 FG% & .45 3p%, which made him an all-star this season, in next season. I put Nelson in the same class of Mo Williams. SVG made a VERY BAD decision to let Nelson play in this series and play so much minutes. Nelson's performance has been awful and it's understandable. I don't blame Nelson wants to play. It's totally a BAD decision by SVG and the Magic's management. If SVG would have kept his PG rotation with Alston and Johnson, I think the Magic wouldn't do worse than a 3-1 hole in this series.
Can't believe people are actually complaining about that elbow. It seems like every time the Lakers win people want to blame the refs for it. I guess The Lakers just suck and can only win with help from the officiating. Even though they didn't go to the free throw line but 1 time in the 4th qt. and overtime combined.
I'm afraid that's right, and I don't want to see it. I'll be watching Cardinals/Indians, instead, but I'm sure I'll flip over to see just in case I'm wrong. But watching the Lakers and Kobe win a ring doesn't sound like a pleasant evening to me.
How do you know Orlando would of closed it out? game was tied at that paradox at time. And regarding the noncall on Nelson Its like a midget hugging a bra model, his head just happens to be at a convenient height. LOL, u got to give space to the offensive player, Nelson didn't - WHAM.
