I called Travelers Insurance 1 hour 57 minutes ago and have been on hold listening to an automated message that fires every 35 seconds saying "your call is important to us..." I'm taking bets on how this will end.... I say I will get hung up on without talking to anybody. lol. I have a fence guy coming in about 40 minutes, too.

But my call, of course, is very important to them... :D

What's the longest you'd ever stay on hold?

10 minutes max. I have short patience when it comes to waiting on the phone.

Dude, they obviously forgot about you. Hang up and call back.

Longest I'd ever stay on hold is about 2 minutes...

Nah, I'm just watching tv with the speaker phone on, so it's no big deal... they never talked to me... I got the automated voicemail as soon as I called in. I'm afraid to hang up and call back because it may send me to the back of the queue and the one guy working the phones may never talk to me. :(

I was on hold with Comcast for over an hour when Houston made the switch from TW to them.. I love companies that I get to talk to real people right off the bat, I don't see that too often any more other than my banks or credit card companies..

I remember about 10 years ago being on hold with the postal service for so long I decided to also call them on my cell phone. I spoke to a live person on my cell phone while still on hold on my landline. I guess they did not invest in a system that would keep the calls in order of when people called.

Lol. I was seriously going to just let it ride the whole day, but I got a phonecall and accidentally hung up when trying to switch over. :D

Total time waiting for Travelers to pick up the dang phone : 3 hours 28 minutes... and they never picked up. :(

Oddly enough, after about 2 hours the recording saying I was important to them every 35 seconds stopped and elevator music started playing. Maybe she got tired. *sigh*

I think I broke 2 hours on hold with the IRS several years ago. Long distance too!

But I put it to speaker phone, and they had some funky jazz music, and didn't interupt too often to tell you they were still ignoring you -- so it was just like background music. Except for the mad paper scramble when they finally answered and the fear of the process being started again when they started transferring the call.

Kudos to your grandma...but that's not a lot of time so she is probably wasting more of her time having to call back again.

I would probably wait 15 mins max. I can't say I've ever waited that long although I may have deleted those memories. I believe DirecTV put me through "Wait Hell" back in the day when they didn't have their sh_t together...but minutes seem like hours when I'm on hold.

lol she doesn't call back. She waits on the person to call her back. She will call me and I'll say hold on my Mom is on the other line, and I'll click back over 15 seconds later and she has already hung up. So I just call her back.
