The best you can do at backup C is a starter from a lottery team.

I would love to have Marc Gasol as our backup C.

He would be great as Yao's backup, but he would also be too expensive.

Notice how strongly he goes up for the dunk, always with 2 hands...yeah, he would do well in the NBA.

if the rockets could get him it would be great.

versatile offensive game, with size, kind of like a center version of scola.

hopefully the rockets have enough money left under the LT to make an offer, after deciding what to do with tmac, ron, and von.

Im surprised you didnt say anything about v-span ;)
I did notice all of his baskets on the national team came from passes that v-span gave him. It seemed like they had good chemistry.

VSpan would have been a very good NBA player, especially under Adelman, but he chose to take his ball and go home....what more is there to say.

If you don't want to play in the best league in the world then you clearly aren't made of tough enough stuff.

I agree with you. I liked v-span i understood why it was so hard for him. Its not easy to make a good impression on a coach who doesnt give you a chance and when he finally does you try to do too much and make things worse. This offense was made for V-span especialy with his vision.

Even Yi Jianlian looked good in the highlight reels. That's mean these highlight videos mean nothing!

But i like what i see for this guy:
    (1) He is real big and strong
    (2) Move without the ball very well
    (3) Can put the ball on the floor and dribble and score
    (4) have 20foot shooting range!

The Chron & Rockets.com articles have been saying low-cost backup. Unless this guy is willing to play for less than $1.5M it's doubtful he's a realistic option.

he can shoot the jumper?! without hesitation?! lets dot the i's and cross the t's already!

haha but seriously though, i'd definitely take a chance on the guy. he's no brian cook thats for sure. we don't have that many cheap options for a backup center and we really do NEED one. no balls about it. only question is if this guy would be willing to take less money than he would get staying in Greece or from another NBA team as previously mentioned...

Do the Rockets have Birds rights to Artest or does his salary have to come from the MLE or from within the current salary cap?

    Sarcasm?

He would do well, because two hands means security on the ballhandling going up, and security on the estimation and calculation of the ball going in the hoop.

Not every can throw it down with flash, like Amare. Heck, even Dwight Howard usually goes up with a two-handed dunk.

Borousis already has a contract offer from the San Antonio Spurs and apparently is waiting for his team to decide if they are offering a bigger contract or not.

Anyway i think greek players have failed to make transition to the NBA, i won´t be so high about him.

I dont see any way he would choose the Rox. Its not like they are going to be able to offer him a ton more cash then other teams, NBA or European. Therefore he would have to want to come to Houston and that makes no sense.

He is a very good/great Euro player. Why would he want to come here and maybe get 15 min a game backing up Yao. Players who have had big time success in Euro ball dont do well when they come here and get little playing time. Vspan didnt handle it well, Juan Carlos Navarro didnt handle it well and Im sure this guy wouldnt either. I doubt he considers signing with the Rox and hoping Yao gets hurt.

Imagine if Scola only got 15 min a game. Im sure he wouldnt have been happy about leaving the Euroleague as a MVP and getting that little of a role in the NBA.

True, but actually Scola was never a Euroleague MVP.
