I miss old him too although I don't think he will come back and play like old himself.
Fronting becomes a big problem for Yao for last season because Rockets do not have a player who can play like him or Hedo. If Rockets can get such a player in the offseaon, I am optimistic for next season.

That I agree is a questionable no call.

Can't blame the refs. LA didn't shoot a single freebie in the 4th up until a certain point, and Orlando was in the penalty for a long time. If you can't hit one free throw to seal the game, or not back up off a 3 point shooter so he can tie the game, then I really don't care that the refs missed one call in your favor. You deserved to lose.......

Yao's rebound is not as good as DH, but he is still a rather good rebounder. He averaged 10 rebounds during the last 4 seasons. Only very few people could do that in the league. People think he is not a good rebounder because he's supposed to get much than 10 RPB because of his size. But it should be realized that his over-big size is also the biggest disadvantage of him which severely limits his althlesim.

That should have been an offensive foul; however, the possession before Howard clearly knocked down Pau, instead of his 5th and 2 FTs for Gasol, he was sent to FT line. The possession before that play, replay clearly showed Pietrus hit and held Kobe's whole right hand right at the release, the ball went incredibly short. No whistle. Let's just say those 2 bad calls canceled out the offensive foul?

37-20 total, 18-0 freethrows in the fourth and OT, before the whole thing was over, , Magic team or his fans or Lakers haters have the players to blame instead of the refs.

Yup... Did I hear right on tonights game that Turk gets $7million a year? Artest wants how much? $10million? LOL!

Comparing Yao to Howard is like comparing a grapefruit to an orange...

Howard's offensive game will come. He's still 24 folks and that's not even his prime yet. I wonder how folks will feel if we just let Ron walk and sign up the "michael jordan turkey" as barkley would call him. He's 6'10 and I would love to see him play some minutes at the 4. Talk about clearing the lane for Yao and mcgrady and brooks to just drive in. Kick the ball out to a reliable 3 pt shooter.

I said it before many times and I'll say it again. If Yao is allowed half of what Howard does in the paint, no one, I mean no one, will be close to Yao as the best center in the league. I just watched the 4th game of the finals tonight and Howard was allowed to bang the Lakers' centers in the lane without being called for fouls most of the night. I thought to myself that if the refs allow Yao that much room who would be able to guard him, and defensively, who would be able to go past him?

I am all for it. He's a serious baller. Although he extends his off arm on every single drive, he just drew fouls right and left. I don't care whether it's legit, as long as the refs reward you for that, why not? He's more like TMac in Turkey instead MJ. He's long, good shots, good bball IQ, good facilitator and quite clutch.

Yeah I'm not blaming the refs. I didn't watch the game closely until the end. I just thought that play was wide out in the open with no call, just looked totally blatant and obvious.

Hedo missed 3-4 from the line and Dwight missed those 2 free throws and that stupid play by Nelson. It's too bad, I really think Orlando is the better team but they're just not closing things out. They could be up 3-1 right now if they hit that layup in Game 2 and Dwight makes 1 of 2.

For sure. Just 1 measly move other than a dunk that he can convert on 40-50% of the time, even 66% FT, and he poses grave grave danger to all who oppose. I mean, you could then even do things like put Chucky Brown next to him and get away with it....

To me, the thing I attach to all post players is them with some form of a hook shot. I dont understand how its not a more common big man theme, how it takes Carroll Dawson calling over Joey Dorsey for private workouts to get even implement the FORM. But I guess hook shots and having touch for some people is like telling an average guy in the stands to kick a field goal in football. Or its like some people just have 2 left hands even though they have a dominant right hand.

I think its cuz Yao attempts that sporadically. The key is to ESTABLISH on EVERY PLAY that kinda style from Day 1 and be unrelenting. I dont think Howard gets much "love" from refs more than Yao, just he's set the precedent for what his game's about and its become expectation. Yes, I'm saying the player has to brand their style themselves.

If JJ Redick all of a sudden tries to go hard into the lane going for a jam barrelling into defenders, he's probably gonna look "out of control" and even get whistled for a dumb charge call, even though he's doing what Mickael Pietrus would do every game.

QFT. that's all it really is. every player develops a reputation for their style of play as they play in the L.

i doubt if you ask anybody that yao is a "physical" player. had he develop that type of play from day 1, he would get more of the calls that are 50/50.

and you're right shroopy. howard doesn't get the love from the refs that most people say. he was in foul trouble repeatedly earlier in the playoffs, esp. v. lebron. every 50/50 call b/t him v. lebron went lebron's way.
