I'm still trying to figure out where in these videos is "too far" because I don't see it. We're talking about a comedian where his job is to make jokes. This was on his show. Its not like he went on CNN to debate and made this comment to stregthen his arugments.
The joke was about the 18 year-old, guys. Calm Down. He was saying that the reason the 18 year-old wasn't sitting in the stands was because she was in the dugout. And like others have said...if she's going to be in the public sector, and gonna be the spokeswoman of abstinence (yeah, kid, that'll make your baby feel REAL nice when it gets older), then she's fair game to be criticized. I think it's stupid that people would consider her a valid spokesperson for abstinence, and I think it's potentially harmful for the baby, but that's a different debate.... Much ado about nothing. Moving on.... P.S. I thought the right wing was supposed to be the ultra-hardened, tough-as-nails one....
Its obvious that his writers were to ones who screwed this up for him, they couldn't pass on the opportunity for the joke about the daughter and didn't care if it was the one with the kid or not. Its really easy for Dave to backtrack now and say it was supposed to be about Bristol, and that's fine. But it wasnt' told that way. He didn't mention that in his joke and the only daughter at the game was the 14 year old. It was a joke in very bad taste and as a parent she has every right to call him out about it.
The only daughter who had a history of getting knocked up was Bristol. From a comedy standpoint Bristol is the only that it would make sense for to be in the joke.
So we can joke about Bush but when it comes to Sarah Palin it's off limits.. Was the joke out of context or something...
So ethnic jokes and racial slurs are ok, which happens every day in society, but a joke about getting knocked up by an athlete is controversial and out of line? Just move on with life, it's only words...
exactly. you never heard anything coming out of the Bush camp...he was annihilated by late night tv hosts. her daughter is 19...last time i checked. thats not underage. obviously 14 isnt underage anymore. kids are havin sex at 10 now
I'm with yah brother, Kids nowadays are learning at an incredible fast rate then when I was a child...
The Palin's are blowing it completely out of proportion just to get in the news. Letterman was clearly talking about Bristol. It would not make any sense any other way. Bristol is the one who in the past week has been talking non-stop about sex. Also, the jokes were more about AROD and Spitzer than Bristol.
So you know that the 14 yr old daughter is getting boned? For those who dont pay attention, she has 2 teen aged girls...a 14 yr old and a 18(or 19) yr old. For all we know, the 14 yr old one is as much of a virgin than the obama daughters yet David Letterman is making knocked up jokes about her. Hope he doesn't ever do that to sasha, he would be fired on the spot Also, a little background on that second video. MSNBC is a one sided news organization that doesnt even allow alternative view points on some of their shows. They have this 15 year old boy that looks kind of like a woman hosting a show at night that wont even invite people that she doesnt agree with on to his show. They also got that old espn guy that has mental problems and he has the same problem with alternative view points. Overall, the whole network lost its news cred years ago.
So far all I have got from this thread is that it is now okay for me to call every Lefty's underage daughter a slut, I can also talk about grown men working them over. If it is not offensive for Letterman to talk about Palin's younger daughter (even if the joke wasn't meant for her, face the facts, it was addressed to the 14 year old at the game) then I suppose its okay to do the same to the everyday guy with a young daughter. But I am just guessing that if the attack was aimed at your family, your tune would change.
Uncalled for bigotry, and untrue. Maddow regularly, routinely invites talking heads with opposing views. She is an excellent debater; they turn her down. (Even if not because of political fairness, having the opposing side on makes for better television.)
The only people I can think of that might be legitimately stupid enough to think those jokes were about the 14 yr old are - well - sarah and todd palin. However, I could guess that there are probably thousands of people who are duplicitously douchey enough to feign outrage over something they readily know to be bogus and - well - stupid.
I can't believe people actually think the joke was about the 14 year old. Lol. He was making a joke that the reason the older, pregnanter Palin was not in the crowd is because she was in the dugout.... You people are fools.... And by the way, for the person that posted about MSN, flip everything around to Repub bias, and you have Fox News. That's why CNN is better. It's only a very slight Democrat Bias.
