I sold my house last Friday, and the week before I had been moving into a new place. I moved my computer the Friday before because Time Warner was scheduled to set up my roadrunner and my cable that day. They didn't show up, so of course I called. They said they weren't supposed to be there, and that the earliest they could get there would be the next Wednesday (which was last Wednesday). They claimed that Wednesday was when it was originally scheduled for. "It's right here in the system." Now...Internet is pretty important to me, so I made darn sure I paid attention to when it was supposed to be scheduled. They had told me Friday, the 31st, and I was...and still am....100% certain of that. Oh well....I was busy with moving, so I just had to gut out the better part of a week without Internet. No big deal....life goes on. Someone there made a mistake, and I can live with it. HOWEVER, I splurged with some of the proceeds of the sale of my old house on a new HEC. Part of it was a new HDTV, so Monday, I called Time Warner up and asked that they upgrade my system for HDTV and bring me out a converter box. They scheduled it for the next day (which was yesterday). Because of what had happened the previous week, I made darn sure I paid attention to when it was scheduled for. It was scheduled for Tuesday, June 11th, between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. So at around 7:30 last night when I hadn't heard anything from them, I decided to call. The lady that I spoke with said that it was still scheduled for last night, and that they just hadn't gotten to it yet. I remember that when I had it installed at the old house, it was scheduled in the same time block, but that it was close to 11:00 before they finally showed up. So, I didn't think too much about it. But....they never showed up last night, and they didn't call either. Today of course, I called Time Warner. Guess what they said? I'm sorry sir, but we didn't have you scheduled for yesterday. We have you scheduled for today between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. It's right here in the system. Needless to say, I was not amused. And in fact, I'm pretty sure I pissed someone off, so I may not even get it today. Has this happened to any of you? It's pretty ingenious if you think about it. If you miss the appointment, don't take the blame for it....just tell the customer they had the wrong date. All of this stuff is done over the phone, so there's not exactly a paper trail. And most people don't have two different cable orders within the same week, so most people won't remember if they've been screwed before. How can I make them pay for pissing me off?
if you're in Austin, don't use TW... there are two other cable service providers... i can't think of their names right now... and for cable modem, maybe try DSL instead? i'm down for anything that will screw over TW!
kill them everytime you talked to someone you should have asked for their name so when they didnt show up you say "blah blah told me." im sure theres some specail place you can goto complain about all this... or i could just beat them up for you
I don't like Time Warner either but its cheaper than the alternatives. Grande is the other service provider in Austin. I don't think Time Warner and Grande operate in the same neighborhoods and apartment complexes. Earthlink, AOL, and another local company offer cable internet through Time Warner.
Pole, Do you take down the name of the person you're talking with and the time of the call? I know it won't necessarily help, but it might. "I talked with so-and-so at this time on this day. This is what they said. I don't care what's in the computer. When can I expect you to fix you're mistake?"
