Did you see Moehler's first start of the season? It was also at home against the Cubs. He gave up 7 ERs in 1.2 IP before getting pulled.
Anyone know for sure who's starting on Thursday? This thread says Oswalt and I'm sure that's what Yahoo said when I looked the other day. Yahoo has now changed to show Hampton starting on Thursday and Oswalt on Friday. Either that or I was mistaken and it always showed them this way around and this thread is wrong.
I'm pretty sure it's Oswalt: http://www.chron.com/sports/astros/ I know Thursday is his bobblehead giveaway.
Not sure if you've had the misfortune of seeing the promo commercial. It's pretty bad, in my opinion. They have somebody doing a voiceover pretending to be Roy while showing the bobblehead arguing with a miniature elf or something. The commercial ends with the voiceover unsinspiredly saying something like "I'll run over you with my tractor." I get the tractor thing. It just wasn't funny.
Ouch, I can gladly say I didn't see that. I don't get the commercials on mlb.tv, just the FSH feed. I just saw the bobblehead in the little captions they show with the upcoming promotions during the games.
What are you talking about? This is VINTAGE BACKE. He's pitched a whole 2 2/3 inning and has only given up 5 hits, 3 walks and 2 runs
I rarely turn off Astros games but I was too tempted to watch some hockey and basketball tonight, esp. after the way this game started. It looks like Arias was pretty good. It's hard to win baseball games when your pitchers collectively give up 16 hits and 8 walks.
You knew it was gonna be a bad night when a fan got thrown out for Interference in the first freaking inning. I hate the damn cubs, just UGH.
Apparently, you were on to something, stobbart. I heard on 610 today that Oswalt's start has been bumped back due to some kind of injury. Edit: The change is now reflected on Chron.com: http://www.chron.com/sports/astros/
And in Tejada's first AB since learning about Mier's comments, he reaches out over the plate and hits into a DP. Despite Puma's .251 AVG, he now has a higher OBP than Tejada.
Zambrano is at only 42 pitches through 4 innings, giving up 2 hits and no walks. Wandy is doing OK but he doesn't look particularly sharp.
