a stupid question. but i honestly want to know what had happened to the guy.
i mean he seemed like he can contribute with his rebounding n defense from what he showed during presseaon, he was scoring like 20 pts a game in summer league, im not saying summer league means a whole lot, but he was better than landry's summer league performance... what was his problem? his attitude?

If he could become a Birdman type of player, that would be huge for this team next year.

We have done the Dorsey thing already.

He is still in the plans I believe for next year, esp with Deke out, but only as a 3rd string C.

Hopefully we secure a back up for Yao that can play some meaningul minutes...Joey is NOT that guy.

Well he was given a 4 year contract for a reason. He's very raw and needs development.

There was no problem with Dorsery the fact is the Rockets have a lot of bodies at his position.

IN an interview a few weeks back Morey called out Dorsey and basically said he's immature and has alot to prove before he sees the court. You can take that in one of two ways. Either he's a complete bust or Morey knows his potential and just wants to motivate him to work harder to reach his potential. I personally believe Dorsey is a physical specimen who could bring something to the team. But right now, its really hard to know for sure.

    Well....he is a freak.

He throws down some of the most monstrous dunks I have ever seen...

If he can turn that into a productive NBA player is another question. That said he is one of the fastest bigs I have ever seen....

i think he's a bust as well, i thought he'd be similar to hayes, but obviously hayes is a superior player, especially on the defensive side of the court.

I think calling Dorsey a "bust" is a bit premature. I dont think he was ready to play this year, the Rockets felt as though he needed to develop more of an offensive game. What we say on the video of him learning the jump hook was pretty bad but it was one video and im sure he has improved with the practice. Im not a Memphis fan or a Dorsey fan, I just say we give the guys a lil time and a chance to see significant action in the regular season before we label him or anyone a "bust".

He definately has a freakish body and can run and jump... if he is nothing more than a rebounder and a shot blocker with a few trash man dunks in the mix... I'll take him.

That video tells me squat. You want the passer in the alley-oop, not the dunker.

Morey's comments remind me of nothing so much as CD and Rudy rationalizing their pick of Rodrick Rhodes. As physically talented as Jordan, "We think we can do a few things as far as his shot," etc. And then they get rid of him for being an irremediable headcase.

if Big Ben can be the DPOY, I cant see why Dorsey cant play in the NBA. Remember he is injured most of the season. Its not like his coming in to score, all we wanted from him is defense and rebounds. And he have shown he can rebound. Thou not so much of the defense.

he's extremely undervalued on this board, but he's a special talent.

he has everything you want, but can't teach, in a big man. he loves to play defense. he's nasty. he's an athletic freak. having watched him practice and play in person, he's an impressive athlete.

the problem with him is that he's lacking in NBA big man fundamentals. by this i mean footwork, using leverage, not fouling or appearing to foul on defense, knowing his rotations, etc.

in other words, once he gets the stuff between the ears in place, he should be a really nice addition to the roster.
