In addition, Gizmodo is reporting that the tethering option from AT&T might cost $40 extra, pushing Data+Tether to $70 per month. That is insane.
I'd imagine Apple isn't real happy with a lot of aspects of AT&T, but it was the only carrier that would give them the freedom they wanted when the phone launched. Now that the iPhone is so popular though, Apple may have more leeway when negotiating with other carriers when the contract is up.
Does it support Exchange Server 2007 on T-Mobile? I do not recall if it is an AT&T network thing or not. I need Exchange support to access my Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions account.

I have a deaf coworker who has had a iphone with a data only plan for well over a year. Looks like it's $50 a month. http://www.wireless.att.com/about/disability-resources/text-accessibility-plan-for-iphone.jsp
dude, i was doing research on that just a while ago and i came across it...i can't believe that the rep didn't mention it when i inquired about data only plans. my sorority sister who is deaf has one but she is paying $90 bucks a month for a regular phone plan. i'm really irritated at lack of knowledge of the at&t reps but other than that, i can get a Iphone after all!!!
my contract is almost up with t mobile and im thinking about going to at&t for the iphone and i have a question should i get an iphone(3GS) now or should i wait for the 3rd generation next year?
What are you waiting for? When the next iPhone comes out, you'll be asking should you wait for the next one.
Just get the 3Gs... though I can bet next years will probably be 4G.. hope for you that Apple lets you upgrade.. unlike this year.
If anyone is making the switch to AT&T, you can get 35% cashback on your phone, but it HAS to be a new contract. No adding a line, upgrade etc. Here's the fatwallet thread for more information: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/930265/?start=0
If you're on the first generation, I'd definitely upgrade. If you have the 3g, the upgrade is marginal at best.
