If you get a chance to get amare, you get him. Its not that hard, amare and richardson for tracy, scola, and barry. Let ron walk, sign barnes and a big, and roll. Amare improves the rockets alot at the 4 spot. He draws fouls, he finishes well, runs the court, very good midrange shooter and very good free throw shooter. Thats not a knock on scola, landry or hayes, but teams would play the rockets different with amare on the court with yao. Scola to his benefit gets to the open spots when teams sag on yao, but with amare, they're not sagging on yao from the pf pot because of his ability to roll to the basket or just beat his man off the dribble from the free throw line. People can say what he don't do or whatever, but we've seen him beast teams in the playoffs.

I'd rather give them Yao over Scola.

Amare to the rockets? where do I sign. Are you people in sane? if that trade presented itself, DM better jump on it as hard as he can. Dude is at least good for 20/10 ppg. All these people talking about he's cancer to locker room shiet are just looking for excuses. Wasn't Ron Ron the same thing before we got him? As matter of fact most of the Ron hater before he was a Rockets would blow him hard now if they get the chance. Don't give me none of these rocker room bs. Given the right circumstanced any player can change for the better.

I hate to admit that I agree.

Yao is the better player, but everything can grind to a halt getting the ball to him, or when he gets taken out of the game by fronting defenses.

Still, Yao ain't going nowhere, and rumor had it that Stoudemire thought he was coming to Houston. I wish I knew why. We were pursuing the deal to be sure but maybe it made more sense for the Suns to bring on Tracy's dead weight for just one season rather than for one-and-a-half seasons.

Or maybe Tracy's "I'm going to get microfracture" killed talks at the deadline?

Sorry if this was discussed earlier in the thread, I jumped straight to the last page.

Like i said, its not really that hard to do a deal if kerr wants to deal and cut money the year after. Amare and richardson =29m, tracy, scola, and barry = 28m. The rockets get a 28yr old sg and a 27 top flight 4. Phoenix gets 3 expiring contracts.

Problem is teams dont just look to dump money when they get rid of superstars. They also want young talent. The sonics wanted Jeff Green in order to dump Ray Allen. The T-wolves wanted Al Jefferson and future first round picks in order to dump KG. The Sixers got two first round picks and a solid PG albeit an older one for Iverson.

Scola is a great player especially for his salary. But he is not young and after next season probably gets a pretty big raise. Im sure the Suns want more then an injured Tmac, an old BB, and Scola to give up Amare not to mention also include J-Rich.

I dont see how a trade gets done that doesnt include Brooks (who Phx is high on), maybe also Landry, and some future draft picks. Maybe I am wrong, but I think other teams will offer much more then your proposal.

I am on board with Lee's proposal. Amare Stoudemire would be a fantastic addition. I would not give up both power forwards and Aaron Brooks, though. This strikes me more of a move made at the trade deadline. I imagine the Suns want to see what they have with their roster and more time with Alvin Gentry. They were a pretty good team last year even with all of the turmoil.

Dude's arrogant but you can't deny the talent. Would love to have him on the team, as long as we keep one of Scola and Landry, preferably Scola.

I don't get why people are saying to keep Scola over Landry right now.

I understand that he is the better player out of the 2 now. But Landry is the younger guy with the higher ceiling. Plus why would Scola want to sit behind Amare's arrogant a$$ or even Chris Bosh. Wasn't he traded here because he knew there wasn't a chance for him to start at all in San Antonio??? Why in the hell would he want to be put back in that scenario, really?!

I would definitely trade away Scola before giving up Landry.

Landry is younger, more athletic, and has more room to grow, but i can't see him having a high ceiling. I dont see him being capable of having the effective post moves scola has. Scola is only about an inch or two taller than Landry, but his game allows him to play much bigger. Landry's mechanics don't seem to be headed that way.

and scola wasn't traded because HE didnt want to back up in SA, but because the spurs didn't want to pay his buyout clause to bring him over and have him play limited minutes. Scola would have played in any scenario, he just wanted to get to the NBA.

I do understand his game isn't up to par at Scola's but you gotta think about it, Scola is like 4 years older than Landry and Scola has been playing in Euro league his whole career. Landry has about 2 years of NBA experience and he is still building and crafting his game.

It's very hard to compare the two because their games are so different. Scola works to get position in the low post and has developed slithery moves to get past defenders.

Landry has explosiveness and a good jumpshot that could become automatic with work and time. Not saying that Luis' shot isn't good just that Carl's could become better. Plus as we saw this season Landry has been working on his 3 point shot and has said he needs to work on his D. He has an extremely higher ceiling and thats were opinion comes in, and we clash. I am not saying he's gonna be big time like CB or AS but he would be an awesome backup to come in for one of them.

I think we already have Amare on our team, his name is Landry. Put him in their with Nash circa 2006 and you will see the same stats and explosive game.

i get what you're saying, but i wasn't refering to experience or polishing moves or anything like that. i was refering to their body mechanics. There's players who you can tell have the mechanics to develop a post game, a jumper, etc. even if they are young. Some never have it. I don't see Landry having the fluidity or mechanics to eventually reach a higher ceiling than Scola. Scola's currently in his prime, capable of being the go to guy and putting up 20ppg. I dont see Landry ever being able to consistently put up close to that average. If you don't have what scola has then you need major athleticism and size, or a combo of both. Landry will probably never have what scola has and he definitely will never have size. He's gonna be stuck as a hustle player, with an OK jumper, hook shot, and athleticism.

Like him improving his 3 pt shot, that's hyped up more than it should be. A 3 point shot is a great weapon to have when you are tall or can beat your opponent off the dribble, otherwise it's going to leave you stuck at the 2 point line, just ask Luther Head. Landry isn't tall and his ball handling isn't goo enough to back off of him, i don't think it ever will be, at least not when he's 20 feet out or more. so his man just has to stay in his face and that new wrinkle to his game will be shut down. If anything, it may just give Yao more spacing, but it's going to hurt the offensive rebounding also by taking landry away from the rim, so it may cancel out, we'll have to see...

Amare is going to cost money why not stay with the tandem that is Scola and Landry. They both obiously want to be here and get the job done not to mention compliment each other. One of them could be trade bait down the line though.

I personally think he is to big of an injury liability and we already have plenty of experience with those. I'd rather instead of blowing our current chemistry to score a big name, we focus on who can actual fit what has worked for us.

Detroit is a prime example of what getting a big name, just to have a big name will get you.

rather have Okafor, like his defense and his rebounding more than amare's explosiveness, as long as yao is healthy, we don't really need another guy in the paint.

Didn't want Amare before and definitely don't want a blind STAT now.
