I go through Costco/Ameriprise... they're cheap for me... which probably means they'll be worthless when I need them. Of course State Farm cost me almost 3 times as much per year, so no way was I going with them. lol.

Maybe this happened in the past or maybe it's for a particular branch, but this is not currently true.

It's a C. The BBB explains it as follows:

I actually was enjoying with AIG, lowest rate so far, until that executive bonuses thing that got me pissed off. So I moved to Geico. I saved almot a hundred but then i got a phone call from telling me taht there's an accident record of my wife almost 5 years back that I didn't include or mention in my application. I didn't include because it's almost 5 yrs and I didn't know the exact time it happened. So I was told that they're going to add 30 dollars more to the premium even though i explained to them it wasn't our fault. And the guy insisted, "but still it's an accident". Accident caused by a sleepy driver who ran a red light that wrecked by wife's car. The sad thing was, when this accident happened, my wife's insurance was with Geico.

I have Farmers and I haven't had any problems with them so far...god willing, that will stay that way for a while.

The only time we had to deal with them was Hurricane Ike. No problems. Our agent is really fantastic!

I've had Farmers for almost 10 years now... Through my parents first, then on my own. I've had nothing but good experiences with them, and they've always backed me up and treated me well when I've had to call on them for different incidents I've been in.

I priced other insurance companies about 2 years ago, and nobody came close to matching the price I get through Farmers (my family and I have multiple discounts going on), so I don't think I'll be switching any time soon.

I've had Geico for years and I've never had any problems with them. Of course, I haven't been involved in an accident in almost 20 years (knock on wood), so take it for what it's worth.

Main thing I like about Geico (besides getting a very good rate) is their website. You can do EVERYTHING on-line. That's important to me. I hate having to call into a call center for anything. I've submitted questions about my bill etc. via their on-line contact center and I have always received a reply within the hour.

I just use the Texas Department of Insurance website and see which guys have the lowest complaints, before I buy. They have a complaint index that will adjust the number of complaints for the number of insured customers, so that large companies don't get artificially high complaints due to volume.

Allstate here. Been with them for over fifteen years and they've always provided me with competitive rates and good service.

How much are you guys paying for full coverage? It's around $400-$450/6 months for me regardless of what vehicle I've owned from Acura, Bmw, Lexus, Honda, Toyota.

Funny, I got a letter from Farmers saying that our premiums for house and auto would increase after July. $291 more for the house and $13 for auto. :( So we are looking around...

Anyone have good experience with AllState? They're offering us a cheaper rate for the house/auto policy.

My wife is a former agent for Nationwide. From what she's said in the past, AllState is great at the beginning. G-d forbid, though, if you have a claim. Pulling teeth would be more enjoyable.

My neighbors have them for their home policy. We had a pretty bad hail storm at the end of March. More than 1/2 the homes on our street have gotten or are getting new roofs since the storm (including my house). Their agent gets on the roof and proceeds to tell them that someone got up there with a hammer and made those marks.

Happy Farmers exile over here. Was with them for years until I bought a home and they decided to take me for granted and rip me off on my homeowners insurance.

Packed my bags and left for a Nationwide agent that actually cared about my well-being (and saved me a ton of money at the same time).

I'm paying around $320-$350/6 months. With State Farm, they quoted me some nutty rate like $800+, so I left them after something like 18-20 years of them being my insurer.

Lol, WTH? Well, it's just that the Farmers agent said they couldn't do anything to reduce the premium due to an increase in price of building material.

State Farm has always been fantastic for us. Rates are great for both home and auto. As a matter of fact, they have actually never checked my driving record. I can't tell you how many tickets I've gotten and I never got an increase.

My father was in the Navy, so I've been able to use USAA for over 15 years. They are indeed the best. I've got all of my insurance (life, home, car, miscellaneous) through them as well as my home mortgage, banking, and some retirement funds. I've never had a problem with them.
