If not, will Orlando be the first? That might be the only suspense we'll be treated to in this series.
Come on Lakers give us a sweep and we'll get lots of the 95 Rockets vs. Magic highlights and a place in stat history.
Orlando sucks. DHo gets exposed for his offensive ineptitude, this shouldn't surprise anyone who isn't a DHo fanboy/girl though.
don't think so. Lakers were 5-0 in Finals when the NBA first started in the early 1950s, then hit a dry spell in 1960s. i think, at one stretch in the 1960s, the Lakers lost 7 consecutive Finals to the Boston Celtics.
You could think of 0-8 as a more special case of losing 8 in row since time x (where x = a franchise's first Finals appearance).
Yes, the Wizards started 0-9, more so the Bullets, but same city as you prolly know. Source: Stuart Scott on The Finals Pre-Game Show.
After looking at some of the previous posts I suppose there have been, but Orlando won't be added to that list.
This came up in tonight's Daily Dime: By Elias Sports Bureau The Lakers took a two-games-to-none lead in the NBA Finals with an overtime win over the Magic. After being swept in their only previous NBA championship series, the Magic have extended their losing streak in the NBA Finals to six games, the second-longest for any NBA team to begin its franchise history. The Baltimore/Washington Bullets lost their first nine games in the Finals (four against Milwaukee in 1971, four against Golden State in 1975 and one against Seattle in 1978).
Before yesterday, I would have said Houston was blown out a couple of times and was still competitive. Now, they were an alley-oop away from being 1-1. Having 3 home games in a row is tough though. They can't defend home court 3 times in a row.
