So here's the story. I had one more course to do this year before I graduated (doing a Bsc in Civil Eng). It was a Special Investigative Project where you do research and present your findings in an oral presentation and a written report. I recently got back my grade and it was a C+. Now I was expecting something much higher since it was all I was focusing on. So I went to my supervisor and asked him for some feedback on why my grade was that low. When I told him what I got he was in shock.

Apparently, on the assessment form for my project he basically put all A's and in his eyes the project was deserving of a high A. He even told me that he only gave me like one negative comment for the whole project whereas with the others he supervised it was like at least a page of comments for each project. So basically we realized that it was the secondary marker that was the problem.
That means that the mark the secondary marker gave me was extremely low.

The thing is that shouldn't have been allowed by the coordinator because the largest difference permitted between the two grades is 10%. But it seems like in this case it's more than that. And here's the kicker. It just so happens that the coordinator was my second marker. And he's out of the country and isn't returning till Aug 1st. But marks are to be finalized around the middle of the month.

Anyway, so when we went to the office to find out when he was returning the assistant told us that it isn't the first complaint that they've gotten with respect to marks for this course. But the coordinator isn't answering his emails. And since he has full authority over the course it doesn't seem like there is much the head of department or we could do.

    So what say you Clutchfans?

I had the same crap happen to me, but it makes like .03 difference on your GPA. Probably isn't worth the effort.

TAMU had clear guidelines on that kind of dispute, I assume all schools do. Find the procedure and initiate it. It isn't a hassle at all. Assuming your school is legit you can probably take care of everything through email.

It could bump up my class of degree. I'm borderline right now. Also my supervisor wants me to publish it in a journal. So I kind of wanted the grade to reflect that.

What kind of question is that? You could have just asked where he goes instead of wondering about the legitimacy of the university.

University of the West Indies. Largest, supposedly best university in the Caribbean. It has 3 campuses - Jamaica, Barbados and T&T (where I attended). It has been around awhile and I don't think its legitimacy is a problem.
