I would say Xbox wins, but Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 looked awesome for PS3. Nintendo loses though, without a doubt.
if the ps wand is priced at 60-70 bucks then I see a ton of people who own both a ps3 and wii just selling their wii and buying the wand. Think about it, Nintendo can't just make a wii hd anymore because Sony has it in the ps3. Nintendo would have to innovate even more. The wand is much more practical for playing games than the natal.
After what I saw at the show today, I am really looking forward to Conduit on the Wii, Assasin's Creed 2, GOW3, CODuty, and many other fine titles. Good show so far, not what it was in 2005, but still about 75% back to where it once was. DD
Woo hoo! I sure as hell care. Any idea on what type of Mario game? I wouldn't mind if they just made a sequel to Galaxy. That was a fantastic game, and with the physics, it seems they could do a whole lot if they made another one.
Haven't really had a chance to check out Nintendo's conference to confirm, but I'm assuming that was talking about the NSMB game for the Wii (Galaxy 2 is 2010 I think?).
Really nothing all that surprising this year. The Natal thing is the only thing that really got me by surprise. I tell you what though, if Sony works that motion control in with what the EyeToy already did (Natal), that could be the best as it combines the two elements. If they are serious and use it right, it could be great. Imagine a game that senses the weapon you're holding and you're movement. Overall, it was basically a draw for both Sony and MS. Nothing MS did blew me out of the water and while Sony looks to be holding down the future with its line-up, they really didn't show us anything we didn't know about. I guess with the exception of FFXIV. The other clips I've seen already. Having FFVII on the Network is a nice touch. Sucks they didn't drop the price, but oh well I have one already. Does anyone know if anything was mentioned about Beyond Good & Evil 2? It looked like there might have been a clip when Sony showed all the games in the near future coming out, but I couldn't be sure. Overall, it was nice to hear news, but nothing ground breaking it seems. Maybe I'm wrong.
haha... maybe I should read every page in the thread before I post. Just saw the SMG2 video. Incredible! Anything on a new Zelda game? Or a new Super Smash Bros. game?
Might have missed it, but I don't think so. Unless you mean the DS Zelda game Nintendo announced a little while back...although I don't know if they showed anything new on it (guessing yes?). Saw a little bit of the polished trailer for The Guardian (Team Ico's game). Not in HD, but it did look great. Hoping to watch it (and more) in HD later in the week. Also watched how Tretton announced FF14. I wish I could have seen that live (although I sort of knew ahead of time it would like be announced...sorry Jack, it did leak). I'm sure a lot of people were confused.
GT5 looks awesome and I can't wait to play GOW3. What's the over/under Sony holds a special announcement of a PS3 price cut before E3 ends? The Metroid announcement and video took me by surprise as it looks like they're using 1st & 3rd person POV's. I'm a huge Metroid fan and loved the Prime series so it will be interesting to see the transition from Retro Studios' view of Metroid to Team Ninja's.
Zelda is coming. It just wasn't shown at the press conference. http://wii.ign.com/articles/990/990149p1.html
I was a little less excited about the new Metroid, even though the guys behind Ninja Gaiden are on it, because Itagaki was no longer with them. But then I remembered that they did do Sigma, and apparently they are also working with the Nintendo development team who has done, among other things, all the classic Metroid stuff from NES, SNES and GBA. And also some of the gifs have been making the rounds: Spoiler <a href="http://s249.photobucket.com/albums/gg234/rokkit_photos/?action=view¤t=metroid1.gif" target="_blank"><img src="http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg234/rokkit_photos/metroid1.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> Spoiler <a href="http://s249.photobucket.com/albums/gg234/rokkit_photos/?action=view¤t=metroid2.gif" target="_blank"><img src="http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg234/rokkit_photos/metroid2.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> So yeah, I'm starting to look forward to it.
The new Metroid looks amazing! It should be out sometime next year, and Nintendo's original team that created Metroid and Super Metroid is working with Team Ninja on this title. It could possibly be as great as Prime 1 and Super Metroid!
Still catching up on things, but here are a few things I noticed today that might go unnoticed (mostly games I'm interested in though): There are a few developer walkthroughs of Heavy Rain online. Here is one: <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DOgzBWQnAjY&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DOgzBWQnAjY&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> G4 has the Mad Jack scene: http://e3.g4tv.com/videos/38847/Heavy-Rain-Developer-Walkthrough-Preview/?quality=hd Gametrailers also has more or less the same thing. I think this is the trailer of FF13 from the US version of Advent Children: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X9ZXE1WB Japanese voiced with English subtitles though, unlike the E3 vids (speaking of which, sounds like no dual-audio for FF13 if you're into that kind of thing). <div class="gametrailers_embed_container>"<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" id="gtembed" width="480" height="392"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="movie" value="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=50684"/><param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=50684" swLiveConnect="true" name="gtembed" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="true" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="392"></embed> </object><div style="font-size: 10px; font-family: Verdana; text-align: center; width: 480px; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px; background-color: black; height: 32px;"><div><a style="color:#FFFFFF;" href="http://www.gametrailers.com" title="GameTrailers.com">Video Games</a> | <a style="color:#FFFFFF;" href="http://www.gametrailers.com/game/11450.html" title="Castlevania: Lords of Shadow">Castlevania: Lords of Shadow</a> | <a style="color:#FFFFFF;" href="http://www.gametrailers.com/player/50684.html" title="E3 09: Debut Trailer">E3 09: Debut Trailer</a></div><div style="padding-top: 3px;"><a style="color:#FFFFFF;" href="http://www.gametrailers.com/platformlist/xb360/index.html" title="XBox 360">XBox 360</a> | <a style="color:#FFFFFF;" href="http://www.gametrailers.com/platformlist/ps3/index.html" title="PS3">Playstation 3</a> | <a style="color:#FFFFFF;" href="http://www.gametrailers.com/platformlist/wii/index.html" title="Wii">Nintendo Wii</a></div></div>(not sure if this was shown at any of the conferences) I was a bit surprised at how good Assassin's Creed 2 looked. Haven't really seen much praise for it (but then again, looks weren't really its problem).
RC: Have you heard about the turn around that is happening/is going to happen with the PS store? It sounds like SCEA wants to release between 30-50 PS1 titles on the store during the rest of this year. We recently received: Resident Evil Director's Cut and Final Fantasy 7. Street Fighter Alpha 2 was released today. And Metal Gear Solid and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be released by the end of the month. Capcom and Konami have expressed that they want to release more of their games on the PS Store, and hopefully with FF7 being released it will mean more support from Square. Possibly Suikoden 2 and Xenogears...? I can only hope.
Yeah, I have. I am happy to hear that, even though we should have already had this stuff long ago (why is it that they're just now coming around to it?). It is a win-win situation, which is not something you can easily find. (Sorry about not responding to your earlier post about this. I did read it, but I was debating on when I would address it. I eventually want to make a post that hits on most of the events of the week).
No problem, with the announcement of MGS coming out, I thought I should throw up another post about it. I agree that it has been a long time coming to get those PS1 games here. You'd think financially they would have wanted to gradually release the games since the advent of the PS3 so as not to cannibalize competing PSN sales, but who knows what they are thinking. I'm going off of the assumption that they are rolling out a lot of these games now because of the PSP Go.
Price cut isn't coming. I think Sony's waiting for the slim to release before any drop. Probably holiday season.
Its pretty ridiculous that theres already been 2 heavy rumors of ps3 pricecuts and both fell flat (March+now). I imagine that its still true about the ps3 selling for a loss, so a deeper cut would be hard to swallow.
