Rando is becoming over rated because of the playoffs. His jump shot is still suspect, and he isn't a guy you can build your team around. When healthy amare can carry a team, and plus ray allen has a terrible contract.
All I know is that these are going to be some exciting off seasons the next 2 to 3 years. We have so much young talent and expiring contracts to work with. Morey really is a master. He gave us all this in about 3 years time. What a genius!
Well, i guess I understood you reasoning...we all get frustrated with the refs at times. I just don't understand how you can continue having meaningful conversation within an NBA team's forum without actually watching the NBA. That's what I do not understand.
http://www.ktar.com/index.php?nid=445 If the Suns do the above trade with the Celtics... T-Mac + Landry + Dorsey/Hayes for Nash & J-Rich?
Rondo really broke out in that series, and throughout the season has developed into a point guard that can dish score and rebound. Of course with his surrounding talent it should be easy to look good. That series showed that even with 2 stars there will still be times when the team needs to be carried. Leandro also showed he can take over and flourish at the point with Nash missing games over the middle of the season. I dont remember if this was before/after Amare went out, but having one of the fastest guys in the L run the suns cant be that bad of an idea. I think with opinions split about who this is better for, one can argue that this is a near equal trade. I just hope the rockets can take advantage in the form of a later trade or picking up the pieces if that team implodes.
Geez, whatever happened to the days when players like Rondo and Amare were untouchable? Dumb trade for both sides. Trading Rondo at this stage in his career would be incredibly foolish. Plus, KG and Amare would clash -- you can bank on that. On Phoenix's side it leaves them with their fly down when it comes to dealing Nash since acquiring Rondo would almost certainly signal a forthcoming trade involving Nash. We all know the golden rule in the NBA: an asset's value goes DOWN whenever it becomes obvious the team involved is openly looking and/or forced to trade that player.
Why do people say with his surrounding talent? The Celtics were banged up. Add to the fact that Ray Allen and Paul Pierce rarely showed up to have a good game at the same time and I don't see why people say the talent around Rondo was good this playoffs. If they had a PG playing average in that Bulls series they would not even have made it to the 2nd round.
I was beginning to think I was the only one. I see Phoenix getting bent over with this deal, unless it's all about money.
In the regular season he averaged 12pts 8 assists 5 boards and 2 steals. While shooting over 50% from the field. He's just finished his 3rd year and 2nd year as a starting pg. In 14 games in the playoffs he nearly AVERAGED A TRIPLE DOUBLE: 17pts 9.8 assists 9.7 rebounds 2.5 steals Had 3 actual triple doubles. Sure he can improve his FT% and 3pt range and work on the jumper. But he's only 23 and he has improved pretty much every aspect of his game each year. I'll bet money that he comes back with a better jumper and 3pt shot by the start of next season. He's young, aggressive, fiesty, has all the physical tools/talent and I believe he's the type of player that wants to be the best and obviously the difference in the way he elevated his game from the regular season to the playoffs shows that he's a big time player that rises to the occasion. Overrated? Hardly. He's the real deal.
I think I have to agree. Rondo's transformation from "decent starter" to "borderline All-Star" to "Holy ****! This dude's averaging a triple double in the playoffs!" all in one season is one of the most underrated or underplayed cards of this current NBA season.
Unfortunately in today's NBA, especially during this damned recession, money means a lot more than actual talent. Trades like this make little too no sense from a fans perspective, while the businessmen with the ultimate final decision only sees the $$$ and it makes perfect sense. But anyway, why are you so certain Amare and KG would clash? With the right coaching and the right personal around them, I could see them as being the ultimate combo. Let us not forget than winning heals everything.
Oh, I know. You're right. Just saying, I kind of miss the days whenever franchise or borderline franchise players weren't so easily shopped, and also the days whenever adjusting for the poor economy wasn't the driving force behind everything some NBA teams do. For starters (and to point out the obvious), they play the same position. The only way you can start both players (and consequently be "small" at the five) is to bench Perkins, who is essentially the designated garbageman on a starting unit that features three 20 PPG scorers. They both have gigantic ego's so bringing one off the bench in a Manu Ginobili type role isn't an option. Plus, I have a hunch after trying an Amare/KG 4/5 duo for half of a season, even Doc Rivers would pick up on the fact that they're a better team with Perkins starting. Second, their personalities are matches and gasoline. One player is 100% intense ALL-THE-TIME and a complete douchebag. The other is an "All I need to do is show up" type player and somewhat of a douchebag. One player places an enormous priority on playing defense, while the other only plays defense when he has to. Both have huge egos and an "I want to be the man" mentality. I could guarantee that there would be major chemistry and locker room issues if you combined these two.
I mean really the sun need to get younger quick why would they do a deal like that. Yeah they want Nashes replacement but ray allen doesn't have much left in the tank.
this trade doesnt make sense for either side. why would phx want RR when they have nash? to stash him as a backup? a guy who was a daily threat for a triple double this postseason?
Both Phoenix and Boston are very aware that they can't hold onto their current rosters and payroll if they aren't winning a title, especially with the pending nosedive in sponsorship revenues. I believe non-TV, non-attendance revenue streams are projected to drop by a solid third this next season. Both teams are already committed over the expected lux tax line for next year by a good margin. Phoenix wants to dump Shaq, Amare, and Richardson in a bad way. They're fine losing Barbosa since he's got a moderate size deal that runs for a long time and they know he'll never be the answer if Nash goes down. Boston is apparently very concerned about KG's future (bone spur that is inflamming/fraying a tendon in his knee). They could very well be anticipating a medical retirement for him soon (or hoping for one to get out of the last 3 years and $60M of his deal). Ray Allen is an expiring next year, so Phoenix makes a deal that they can sell to their fans as going after a player when it's really about saving long term money (see Detroit/Iverson). Since this came out of Phoenix, I'll assume this was proposed by Phoenix. Amare to step in for KG (who will be utterly immovable since he can't pass physicals and is owed crazy money), for Ray Allen's future cap relief and Rondo. Barbosa added in to "step in" for Rondo. I doubt Boston bites. Amare & Pierce would be competitive for longer than the three amigos (they are probably done as a unit), but giving up Rondo is a ridiculous price. The Celtics probably can find better options for turning Ray Allen's $20M expiring into a usable big. It's conceivable that they could pursue a S&T for Boozer.
