Anything popping around the San Marcos area? I'll be there this weekend with the fiance. Looking for some things to do. I heard of some shopping centers out that way. I've been to Austin and San Antonio thousands of times, but never stayed in San Marcos. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Don't know what's poppin but I graduated from Texas State University-San Marcos. Best 5 years of my life!!! The outlet malls I guess though. It will take at least 1 day to cover both of them.
The Outlet mall is pretty extensive, and will kill a lot of time. It will really kill time if you or your fiance are super into shopping. Hit the river with an intertube. I don't know if Herbert's Taco Hut is still there, but that's some good Mexican food if it is. Most of the other stuff I know of is very college oriented.
no, I'm pretty sure that the river people are suggesting is the Guadalupe River. Inks, is a lake, adjacent to Lake Buchanan. but Inks Lake really has a "secluded" feel to it. You can canoe the lake, very lovely if it's just you and the misses. Hiking is also highly recommended. The scenes from some of the higher points around Inks Lake are breathtaking. And If you get really bored....try looking around for some payote.
hope ya have LOTS of $$$ for when you go shopping there LOL. i walked into the outlet Coach store and pretty much just walked back out. I hate shopping so thats not something I'd do there. Going to the river is pretty fun though! Enjoy your day shopping. which rowdy are you??
They voted to let the bars stay open until 2:00 but I don't know if it's in effect yet. I lived in San Marcos for about 2 years and really liked it. It's a cool town.
This. Also, used to be a place called Peppers, right on the falls....had giant tasty margaritas...megaritas if I recall correctly.
the Taproom on the square is better. Get a guacamole queso burger. Or just a regular queso burger (hold the guac).
herbert's is terrible. garcia's is where its at if you want mexican food. if you want to float the river... san marcos isnt the place to do it. head 15 minutes south on I35 to new braunfels and jump in the guadalupe or comal from there. about the only thing in SM other than the eating is the outlets (but if your not into shopping then dont waste your time). the square is OK at night. id advise going to J's Bistro and steering clear of nephews. otherwise drive 30 min north to austin and go to 6th street.
