It seems like his opting out of his contract. If this guy is thinking championship he might sign with the rockets but its all about the money and rockets can't afford him and artest. I don't know what do you guys think. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/59510/20090601/varejao_will_opt_out/
He's with LeBron already in a position where he fits best. He's a soft punk IMO and wouldn't want the Rockets to have anything to do with a flopper like him. Maybe the Jazz will sign him... Anyways, he's a PF and we're set at that position. We need a backup center with size.
The contract he opted out of was $6.2M. How are you planning on putting him in Rocket Red when the MLE is ~$5.5m...and you may need part of the MLE to re-sign Wafer...and you're already 2 deep at PF? The chances are slim to none.
He's looking for bigger money. He's the top free agent center on the market. Chris Anderson is going to return to Denver for sure. He's really happy there. So Verejao knows this - he's not leaving cleveland, he's going to stick it out. There are no free-agent centers we can get. We have to look at trades and even then it's tough.
If anyone I want Birdman, he'd make a great backup center and he'd scare the hell out of opposing guards coming into the lane.
He's a good player, but he'll probably ask for more money than the Rockets would be willing to give him. He moves well without the ball on offense, and he's an active team defender. Between him, Scola, Battier, and Lowry, we'd probably lead the league in drawn charges and gain a reputation as the worst (best?) flopping team in the league.
I'm sure some stupid team like the Bobcats will offer him 60 million dollars in 6 years. I suspect that or I suspect him to stay in Cleveland.
