What are some movies you haven't seen but know you need/should? If you went to a friend and said....."I haven't seen ______." Would they look at you like you're crazy? Also, what are some movies you think everyone needs to see? Movies I haven't seen: The Godfather Reservoir Dogs (I acutally own it) Gone With the Wind The Color Purple Star Wars Psycho Silence of the Lambs Movies everyone should see: Scarface Rocky Shawshank Redemption Titanic Braveheart Gladiator Platoon Hannibal I'm sure I could go on and on, but then the list would just be too long. Just off the top of my head... Titanic and Casino are two movies that I have meant to see for a long time now and havent.
I have Chinatown, Silence of the Lambs and Raging Bull on DVD and I have yet to watch any of them. I'll get to it. Movies I think everyone should see? The Dark Knight Garden State The Big Lebowski Gladiator The Shawshank Redemption No Country For Old Men The Original Star Wars Trilogy The Matrix Goodfellas The Departed Primal Fear Rounders Blow The Godfather Part 1 The Godfather Part 2 Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Adaptation Being John Malkovich Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Traffic Tombstone The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Pulp Fiction Reservoir Dogs Donnie Darko Memento The Prestige Mallrats Knocked up Dogma The Forty Year Old Virgin Forgetting Sarah Marshall Shaun of the Dead Rushmore Supertroopers V for Vendetta The Boondock Saints Hot Fuzz
So youve seen hannibal, but not silence of the lambs? I can usually only watch stuff in order if there are a few of them. Just a peeve of mine I guess...
Yeah, usually I'm the same way, but before I knew they were related I saw Hannibal on TV, oh well. Another thing that drives me crazy (most of the time) is when there is an actor that is the face of a series and they come out with a new movie without that actor......the new Terminator movie comes to mind, as well as Batman (although I've been able to cope with this for the most part). I'm going to go with the title of this thread and just list movies I know I need to see. No particular order: Midnight Run Midnight Cowboy Raging Bull One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Lawrence of Arabia 12 Angry Men(only seen parts) Bonnie and Clyde (seen parts) Duck Soup M
Movies I know I need to see... A Clockwork Orange (I've tried a few times but always lose interest early) Cool Hand Luke (been on my Netflix/XBox list for months now...) Godfather series Goodfellas Rounders Scarface Citizen Kane Three movies I think everyone should see... One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest Platoon Memento
Abre Los Ojos (not english version remake AKA Vanilla Sky) Je vais bien, ne t'en fais pas (Don't Worry, I'm Fine) Der Himmel über Berlin (The Heavans Above Berlin) AKA Wings of Desire(english remake version AKA City of Angels) Die Welle (The Wave) Das Leben Der Anderen (The Lives of Others) City of God obviously a big fan of foreign film, but still these movies should be seen.
Epic Fail... Anyways.... I've watch most of the best movies of all time that date back to the 20's.... but I know I still need to finish my De Niro hunt of movies (I was actually in the middle of watching his famous ones when Netflix screwed me over)... but yeah I don't have many more that I really NEED to watch.
Just too many to list here but I'll just name a few that most people probably never heard of. Movie I think people some people need to see: Subtitles movie: Pan's Labyrinth Let The Right One In Oldboy Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Hero Battle Royal Osama Once Upon a Time in China(Jet Li) Apocalypto Kung Fu Hustle Children of Men Last of the Mohicans Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Leon The Professional The Prestige It's a WOnderful Life Mulholland Drive
Good list. Midnight Run is highly underrated, IMHO. Grodin and DeNiro had great on-screen chemistry. If you're going to watch 12 Angry Men, make sure it's the Henry Fonda version. The Jack Lemmon version, while still good, pales in comparison. I've never gotten around to seeing any Wes Anderson movies since Bottle Rocket. I tried to watch a few minutes of The Royal Tenenbaums, but just couldn't stomach it.
Wow. It amazes me that people have not seen "The Godfather". Deprived souls... Shirley you can't be serious... -------------------------------------------------- 1. Every Akira Kurosawa film.. 2. Every acclaimed Woody Allen film. 3. Every acclaimed Martin Scorsese film. 4. Every acclaimed Sergio Leone film. 5. Every Warner Herzog film.(Especially the ones starring Klaus Kinski...)
You haven't seen those? I'm jealous. You have those films to look forward to, and they are superb. I've seen each one at least 5 times. Each is totally different from the other. The Godfather is not only the greatest "Mob movie" ever made, but also one of the greatest films in cinema history. L.A. Confidential was the film that made Russell Crowe a star. He was only part of an amazing ensemble, but when the flick was over, his performance stood out from the others. Watching it the first time, I was wondering, "Who is this guy?" The Big Lebowski is not only one of the funniest movies ever made, but a great look at the dying remnants of a culture I was a part of. As long as "The Dude abides," that culture will flicker on, it's essence captured perfectly.
