Bottom line: After this post season, probably 95% of GMs would rather have Howard over Yao.

Even with Yao in the east he still won't be able to beat the fronting so whats really your point? I don't know for sure but I think that Howard numbers are just as good when playing against the west.

I'm getting so sick of hearing people call other people haters because they feel Howard is a better center than Yao thats just stupid. I'm started to see tinman point on you YOF's and I really don't even care for that guy.

Real funny I guess about the name part.

The fact is that if you ask most people outside of Houston whos the better center most would say Yao. If you ask GM's who would they rather build around most would say Yao.

Yao is my co-favorite player, but I'm not blind either.

Your logic fails big time. I hope you actual watch more games in the future, instead of basing your entire life off of accomplishments and awards. But I don't blame you, you are already convinced LeBron is better than Bird.

As a fan of the Houston Rockets and as a fan of Yao Ming, I am completely okay with the *fact* that Howard is overall a better basketball player. It really is okay. We just have to accept it.

That's it. It's time for you to start backing up things up.

    (1) Show where my logic failed, precisely.
    (2) Show where I ever said LeBron is better than Bird.

I'll expect a real answer this time. Not this childish "Go watch more games" or "stop riding Hollinger" nonsense.

You did make a thread called who's the greatest small forward of all-time and had LeBron in there over guys like Pippen and Hondo and people were CONSTANTLY saying LeBron is not better than Bird. I'm going to take a guess you voted for LeBron.

What do you want me to do then? Show you stats? If you actually watch the Rockets and Yao Ming, anybody with a brain more worthy of 2 cents can tell you It's Yao not Howard. There's a reason why Mark Jackson took Howard, his brain is not worthy more than 2 cents.

You guessed wrong -- I usually don't vote in my own polls and I didn't in that one. The link is above. Point out the post where I said or even suggested that LeBron James is better than Larry Bird. I'm waiting.

Read my very words carefully. "(1) Show where my logic failed, precisely. " My post is right below. If you're going to invoke logic on your side, stop talking around my words and address them directly. If you can't even do that, I'll know I don't need to bother paying attention to your posts in the future.

After these playoffs, I'd say Dwight is better overall, but Yao has a better offensive game. Granted Dwight was playing against soft centers, Yao would probably be taken out by them with fronting.
I'd say this upcoming season will show who is the better center; if Dwight can work on his offensive game and if Yao can finally beat the fronting (and the injuries).

True but Howard is obviously a younger talent and falls more in line with " active garbage man" play most would prefer their centers to be masters of.

Although, honestly if Howard was in the western conference, no way he get DPOY. The man is a beast defensively, I won't deny but against actual people his size, he'd have a much tougher time.

how can people even argue this? it's a closed case after that game 7.

howard has now achieved more in his career both individually and team-wise. the game is not a 1-on-1 sport.

    howard is the better player.

Hypothetically, suppose the Rockets played as a 3rd seed in the East, and the Magic were a 5 seed in the West. Suppose also that neither team sustains any serious injuries (so Yao and Deke are available throughout). How far do you think the Rockets would have gone, and how far do you think the Magic would have gone?

Honestly, I'd choose the Rockets over any of Orlando's opponents in a 7-game series. We've had our problems against Philadelphia, but in a 7-game series with home court I think we prevail. I like us beating the Celtics without KG, and I like our matchup against the Cavs.

Getting to the Finals is a terrific accomplishment for Howard and the Magic, but assuming full health I think I'd have chosen the Rockets to come out of the East (that is, I'd give them the best chance of coming out of the East ... not sure I'd take them versus the field).

well if we play those circumstantial stuff, we can apply that to tracy, but oh wait...

the thing is howard has accomplished more than yao and tracy COMBINED.

We would have more talent. If everyone was healthy, Rockets would most likely be favored.

We have a very similar team to them. We both play inside out and rely on our threes sometimes too often. Here is how I look at both of us
McGrady would be (obviously if healthy) a better Hedo
Battier would be there Lee with better defense. (Same offense)
    Yao would even out Dwight
Our bench is so much better.

This idea that the NBA wants Yao to fail because he's Chinese makes no sense whatsoever. How much more business has the NBA gotten out of China since Yao joined the league?
