You have to prove it on the court. My guess it that IF the Rockets had not lost to the Mavs in the last game they would have been playing the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. I am convinced they could have beaten the Nuggets in seven. They would have swept the Hornets.
By this standard, Atlanta or Cleveland would be the 2nd best team last year. The Celts went 7 games in both of those series, but took down LA 4-2. Nobody remembers or cares who was #2 anyways.
This post needs to be read by all who were asleep last night. Please note Ron and DM are in casual contact and Ron thinks the team he just spent a season with is the second best in the league. This, while a small item, bodes well for the off-season negotiations and the team's makeup next season.
I'd put the Rockets in the top 3-5 teams. That's considering the team of the final 30 games and playoffs before Yao went down. No way to I put us at a clear #2. By that logic you could argue last season's Atlanta Hawks were up at #2 for taking the Celtics to Game 7 in the first round. If Yao continues to produce 20-10 numbers and the rest of the squad comes back the same or improves slightly, next season will be really fun. Contrary to widespread Clutchfans belief, Tracy McGrady anywhere near his 2007-2008 production would be a huge boost. If he can manage something in the realm of 18/5/5 efficiently and within the team strategy then I'd him over most other available options on the market. 2009-2010 Prediction: 56 wins.
Must be plenty of fools out there from them own fans. http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=89302
There's no comparison. The Texans won a regular season game. Also, it was just one game and upsets are a lot more common in the NFL due to there being just one game to decide a winner in the playoffs. It's much harder to win a 7 game series with playoff pressure. What the Texans did wasn't even CLOSE to what the Rockets did. The current Rockets team, if healthy with Yao and Tracy (or a decent replacement with the money he gets) can definitely take the Lakers down.
