So, who's the worst offensive flopper in the league? On a per-minute basis, consider how much he has the ball in his hands, I'd guess Chris Paul leads the league in offensive flops by a wide margin. :)

    5 stars.

I like how honest Jason Terry is about how he knees defensive players on his drives and get an unfair advantage that way. Can you imagine Kobe admitting to using underhanded tactics to get an advantage?

i agree there's more offensive flopping, i hate when players just have to throw their arms up to get a call, it's not even logical, arms go up, ball goes down, that's means it was all ball....Kobe actually throw his arms sideways, which i dont even know how that would happen if someone really fouled him...make no sense..

    Lowry is pretty damn high.

I like the McGrady part of that article. Vince Young really thinks he has it that bad? McGrady would have pulled the trigger by now if he had Young's temperament.

I agree with Battier 100%. That's what I've been saying for a while. Offensive flopping is much worse than defensive flopping. Yet the article simply equates taking charge with flopping and does not even talk about offensive flopping other than the Battier quote. That's just fluffy writing.

You have to fall to get a charging call. That's the way they call it. That's how the players will play with it. That is just dumb officiating. Don't blame the players.

You've just reminded me of why i have to root against KOBE in the finals. Kobe is probably the only guy who I wouldn't cringe for if he gets seriously injured.

Is the reinstatement of the illegal defense rule a solution to the flopping..Under this rule players can't position themselves for a charge easily since they won't be legally guarding anyone. Plus fronting and double teaming a big man prior the ball possession would be illegal also.

Man, i miss the days of Antonio Davis, Dale Davis, Anthony Davis, Charles Oakley and all those bruisers, you bump them, your dead

The whole premise of the article is flawed because it equates taking charges to flopping which it clearly is not. Taking a charge is legitimate defensive skill like at steal or a block because it requires timing and giving up your body. Some players are better than it than others. What I consider flopping is flailing your arms or falling to the ground like you got shot with no or minimal contact. Basically everything Przybilla and Kirilenko does.

Anyone knows how many charges did Yao take this season?

It's sad even when Yao had the position, he still wouldn't get the call because he's too big.

I love what Deke did. But Deke's words had fallen to Yao's deaf ear. Yao still tries to take charges. I rather Yao takes a hard foul or tries to block the shot.

btw, according to what Reggie Miller said on Varejeo in Gm 5 Cavs vs Magic: Flopping is part of his (Varejeo's) skillset. Why don't people just accept that?

    LOL!

That may have been one of the worst things I have ever heard from a commentator's mouth.

Not surprising. Flopping was part of Reggie's skill set too. He was one of the biggest offensive floppers. Many current offensive stars mimic that part of his skill set.

    LOL nice reading.

I believe drawing charges/flopping should ONLY be legit when your counterpart is driving to the basket, because given the rules in NBA now the driver is basically untouchable, it pretty much leaves the defender no options other than trying to draw a charge and fall down. In any other parts of the game, drawing charges should be illegal.

And people here were surprised that many Rocket fans were revolted by the idea of Kobe being traded to the Rockets?
