Over the back is such a BS call these days IT is never called consistantly I hate STAR CALLS How MJ could take 2 steps between dribbles. How Dream and Ewing to two step How Kobe can come over the back or be more physical than normal folx How shaq can run over people Every Star has the mutant powet to get called for their 'specialties' Rocket River but it is the NBA . . .
Is it your contention that the NBA has perpetuated a fraud on the fans and other players for more than a decade by allowing such an obviously egregious rulebreaker to become a multi-time all-star, a top 50 player, a two and soon to be three-time world champion and future hall of famer? You can't be serious.
the five second rule is a HIGH SCHOOL RULE, and it has no place in the nba. the only reason why they have it in high school is because they have no shot clock, and they need some way to make sure teams do something with the ball. you may be thinking of the nba's five second rule, where a player can't dribble with his back to the basket below the ft line for five continuous seconds. it is also known as the charles barkley rule, or the mark jackson rule.
Its also a college rule, the only place its not called is in the NBA. They need to make it a rule, thats for sure. The NBA is the only place that changes the rules. their rules differ vastly from CBB and high school rules Actually its closely gaurded, thats when the reff starts counting, so if the defender is not close to their guy they cant start the count, it has no relation to a shot clock in highschool, its been around before shot clocks were invented. It was put in place to speed up the game though Watch the rockets and then tell me with a straight face that it has no place in the nba, Its a way to reward a defense for great play.
I have been reading alot of your bs posts and they're getting lame, get over yourself, your not the only one here that knows basketball!
Shaq's been doing this for awhile now. Jordan palmed. Iverson palms. Everyone travels. Rick Fox manhandles. In the end, we can only shrug. One thing about Shaq, though: he's been hitting his free throws ever since he kinda-sorta hurt his wrist a few weeks back. And a damn shame, too. Weird that he should be making them and everyone else missing them, like the Kings (as Bernie Mac would say, "summummab!tches!")
My post has nothing to do with my basketball knowledge, or the lackthereof. It has everything to do with posting a stupid response in a stupid thread. I guess I should shutup now, because you seemed to do that too, in your reply.
And what reason is this thread stupid? It is legit, he does step over the free throw line. No, I don't think he has his way with the refs. But I do think the refs should be doing their job, which is what they are getting paid to do. Now to your response, I was refering to the majority of your posts lately, not the one you just made specifically.
They should enforce the rule, and they should (will) if the other coach points it out whenever Shaq shoots. Shaq did adjust, and he's still hitting them better than last year, but that probably will be ignored by some people here. Some of you guys should write angry letters to the NBA like Nader has so you can vent some of that frustration. I agree that the officiating has been piss poor lately. They should get together and clarify on what should be called, but they won't because then they'd put themselves in a position they can't back out of.
