I would say, if Ginobili is to come via trade next season it has to be for Artest, if he comes as free agent, T-mac will be most likely the goner. T-Mac for Ginobili plus fillers won´t work because the spurs have all players except for Hill, Parker and Duncan expiring, and i doubt they consider any of those a bad contract (Hill is on his rookie contract). So i don´t see the spurs trading 23 millions in expiring contracts for a single 23 million expiring contract, that would be a dumb move.
lol at the fact this became a Manu to Houston thread...anyways, It's great to hear that Scola wants to remain in Houston, but I honestly think that it all depends on what happenes with Yao, if Yao goes then Scola goes. I remember him once saying that Yao was the best teamate he has ever played with...
McGrady was injured. Artest was not the same defensive player, and pretty bad on offense. In fact, he was overrated on both ends of the floor. A healthy Manu would have been the closer we lacked.
Good god can you imagine Scola with the King? As the second option on the Cavs I'm pretty sure he'd average in 20's easy. Anyway I'm not sure about Ginobili. Its not that the Spurs don't want him, its because he's as injury prone as Tmac...maybe more. Age is definitely catching up to that guy, and I'd definitely be hesitant on signing Manu to a multi year contract because I'm not sure how long his body can hold out.
Are you kidding me, over the last 5 years Tmac played 317 games between playoffs and regular season. Ginobili played 402 games between regular season and Playoffs. PLUS 40 more games with his NT between Olympic games, World Cup, Olympic Qualifications and Other International Tournaments (Kremmlin cup, Diamond Ball). Thats a grand total of 442 games against tmac 317. Based on raw numbers i can say that Manu is 40% more durable than T-Mac.
Injury concerns over Manu are completely justified. Recently, he's been hurt at key times across several levels of competition. You mentioned his Olympic and WC participation and he was hurt for both of those. And injuries are not just about games missed. Ginobli played 74 games last year but was hobbled in the postseason. Yao played 77 games this year but also went down at the worst time. They may not miss many games, but their injuries have just as much impact.
mr. ginobli, there is no way scola comes back to the spurs, a team that first refused to bring him on and then dumped him like a bag of chips. and guess what, you're the next in line since td is starting to decline and there's no need for a big 3 in san antonio no more. so, houston is obviously your best choice for your next stop in the nba. talk to pop, start a conversation and make it happen. the spurs have always been a classy organization. they will grant your wishes. thank you. signed, daryl morey
Sign him long term. His game is not athletically based and I think he can play at a high level for about 6 more years
Great news, please make sure to sign Scola to a long-term deal. I'd rather do 5 years at 6 than 3 years at 8.
