kobe in houston would b sick regardless of wat he did in game 2.

a lot of ppl hated barkley until he came here.

we would win 3 more championships at least.

altho he cant say he carried a team without a big man.

That thinking only works if the basketball player transcends the problem child, but in Kobe's case, the two aren't mutually exclusive and in fact are symbiotic with one another.

Kobe would never come to Houston. That man will probably only leave LA for a good New York Knicks team, but he is definitely a player that won't come down to the smaller market just to get on a good team.

Even if the Lakers blow it this year, he will stick around and demand they get better like he did early in his career and how he did after they got rid of Shaq.

kobe would never go to houston, this is all bs.

having said that, all you kobe haters are ridiculous. the moment he joins the rockets and teams up with yao, everyone will love him.

his basketball talent is undeniable and with yao and the rest of our talented, deep and tough roster, we would be the new powerhouse in the nba.

If KObe loses to Denver or whoever from the east. One thing for sure, he will opted out.

However he is not going anywhere. He will opt out and ask the lakers to rebuild this team up and sign him for mega contract. Kobe will not leave the lakers.

On the other hand, Lakers would like to deal Kobe and get a chance to sign someone like Lebron. If lebron is leaving Cavs, it got to be for either lakers or the knicks.

If Kobe decides he wants to opt out, where else would he go? We are one of the few teams that can reasonably put together a package to trade for him. He is friends with Artest and just saw what guts and fire can do for a team. He would have plenty of talent around him, better than what he has now. He would slot right into TMacs spot so he knows he would fit with the team. And he would still be the #1 player on the team, even if he knew he had plenty of help. Oh, and he can justify it in his mind because he knows LA would not get screwed in a deal, getting TMac (who is still a superstar) and the cap room for the big FA market in 2010.

Kobe on the court is not an issue for me. I think he would fit very nicely with this team, and in fact, would have the help he needs so that we would see a resurgence in his game. Kobe is selfish because he has to be. That team he has is soft and sits around and plays let Kobe do it all when the going gets tough. He wouldn't have that here.

Kobe off the court, the rape is an issue, but ultimately, charges were dropped so we really have no idea what really happened. Beyond that issue, I have no problem with Kobe and I doubt the team would either. He just keeps to himself. It really isn't fair to hold him accountable for something that we don't have any idea if he did or not. If you want to complain about him being an adulterer, then we wouldn't have a basketball team, because I bet 50% of NBA has done that.

The whole discussion hinges on what Kobe wants. If he wants to stay, he stays. If he wants to leave, LA has no choice but to let him leave, given his opt out. He can then dictate terms. And I think his opinion of his situation is dependent on how they do the rest of the way.

I heard Nash, Paul, Kobe, Lebron and Bosh are all coming to Houston in the next couple of years. According to my inside source, Paul is willing to back up Nash until Nash's back gives out on him. Wade has confirmed his interest but is contemplating whether he is willing to come off the bench. Did I mention Yao is also staying? They are all taking severe paycuts to make this work.

    Nash/Paul
    Kobe/Wade
    Lebron/??
    Bosh/Scola
    Yao/??

We will still have to find a backup SF and a backup C but I think that's a pretty decent foundation.

I can't reveal my inside source so don't ask. He knows what's up though. Just trust me.

I know I can be as big a Kobe hater as the next guy, but the guy is a player. And if the .001% of a chance came in I would cheer for him as much as I cheered for Mad max, Moochie, Cato, and any other knuckle head we have had on the team.

i like the idea but hey.... durability is always a question for me. kobe will be in his 30's next year with lots of mileage. we are already getting burned with th tmac issue, do we really need another potential crutch player? superstar acquisitions only work if you have an existing superstar that is not injured and can play. if we want superstar just go for broke and go young... lebron or dwight howard just to name a few.

ell, it finally happened -- Black Mamba came out and demanded a trade from the Lakers. The proclamation happened during an interview on Stephen A. Smith's radio show in New York City on Wednesday. Here were my first three reactions:

    1. Cool, I actually have something to write about today!

    2. Stephen A. Smith still has a radio show?

    3. Time to hit ESPN's Trade Machine!

Sure, Kobe recanted the trade demands three hours later -- almost like someone backing out of an eBay bid or something -- but that didn't stop me from hammering the ESPN Trade Machine like Joe Cazalghe pummeled Peter Manfredo. After all, it's not often when an NBA team is forced to trade a marquee superduperstar in his prime. We might as well enjoy the moment while it lasts, right? In the past 35 years, only nine players were traded after a season in which they made a first or second All-NBA team. One of those players was past his prime (Gary Payton), and three were great players but not "superduperstars" at the time they were traded (Paul Westphal, Dennis Johnson, Jason Kidd). Here were the five superduperstar deals.

1975: Milwaukee trades Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to the Lakers for Elmore Smith, Brian Winters, Junior Bridgeman and Dave Meyers … or as some would later call it, the "pu pu platter." Kareem ended up winning five more rings, three MVP awards (it would have been four if Bill Walton didn't win in '78 for a 55-game season) and even starring as Roger Murdock in "Airplane!"

    CALL IT TRIANGLE DEFENSE:

    Artest, Battier and Kobe..

Man, we can create an nba record with this line up in all time defensive team by allowing 60 pts a game to other teams.

A nonsensical article written for the explicit purpose of simply creating a buzz.

    Hmph.

Sure, "what if" scenarios are great if that's all we're talking about.

Hell, what if Bron-Bron flatlines Thursday or in Game 6? Does he look to bolt for a place where there's a solid post presence that has a good chance of competing for a title even without him?

Houston, under that scenario, would be compelling.

    Ho hum.

The only chance of the Lakers trading Kobe to us is if we send back Yao in return. It would take a package like Yao + TMac for Kobe + Bynum (after July 1st, when Bynum's extension kicks in) to get it done. And the only chance of this being accepted would be if the Lakers lose to Denver and they think the Kobe title window is closed.

If the Lakers want to move Kobe for anything less than Yao and his marketing dollars, I'm sure Portland could put together a better package.
