    Really?

Baron is still a LARGE upgrade to Aaron Brooks, and Marcus is a beast.

    Baron Davis-Kyle Lowry-Aaron Brooks
    Shane Battier-Von Wafer
    Ron Artest-
    Luis Scola-Carl Landry-Chuck Hayes
    Yao Ming-Marcus Camby

That is a championship roster. Adding Baron and Camby to the team that took the Lakers to 7 would be VERY scary.....

Baron was awful this year, but he has proven that he can be a beast when motivated.

If we bring Baron Davis to this team, I'll be sick to my stomach.

If we were to get Caron Butler i would j*zz all over myself.

Caron plays great D and is a natural scorer with athletic ability unlike Ron but once Caron got/gets here either Shane or Ron would be expendable

Baron is not a large upgrade to Aaron Brooks in this system.

Sorry, this was not intended as a Trade Thread. The question was how close was there to being a BD deal; and how was it to have been structured (BD, TMac + + ??? (assuming it was as close to consummation as alleged by so many writers/referencers subsequently)?

I'd LOVE Caron Butler on the Rockets. You're right, he plays D, plus has better athletic ability than Ron. Washington, let's trade! :)

    A starting lineup of:

    Brooks
    Butler
    Battier
    Scola
    Yao

    with...

    Artest
    Lowry
    Wafer
    Landry
    Dorsey

...off the bench would be so nice. We just need a quality backup center.

I think some people are discrediting Baron Davis a little too much. As a player he would definitely upgrade this team. It's his contract that makes him off-limits.

    Agreed!

I saw him in person a few games last year in Oakland. Dude is strong as an Ox, and can dominate almost any PG in the leage. He has his issues, but he would be a great asset to the team without the albatross of a contract.

If you thought Brooks's inconsistency was bad, Davis will show you even worse. One year, he fluctuates from 37-43%.

Some seasons, he will play 50 games. Other seasons he will play 63-65 games. He won't put back to back 70+gms seasons though.

He also has the potential to get us 5 straight rings as well...

It is a gamble for sure.

Never question his heart or nuts in the playoffs though. I think our guys would bring the best out of him....

Baron Davis is a reckless wildcard who consistantly plays 1 on 5, constantly shooting contested threes. He is talented, but against a set defense he can be just as much a detrement to a team as he can be a positive.

He is old, injury prone, bad decision maker, has a poisonous contract and is ineffecient.

Brooks is young, healthy, bad decision maker, cheap and is moderately effecient.

Davis would be an upgrade on defense and better finisher at the rim, but you are likely to have Yao get less touches which is bad. Baron is a talented player but he would most likely not fit into this system.

Why in the world would we trade a injury prone guy for another injury prone guy. Seriously. Plus he's making a ton of money also and I think we would be in the same situation considering Barons contract irregardless of the other players we get from the deal. I would much rather just let T-mac's deal expire and see if he can play help in the second half of next season possibly. If T-mac is healthy there is no question this team is better and you know he has to be rehabbing like crazy because of contract year.

I really like Baron Davis as a person and a player.

Not so much if he became a Rocket. I mean maybe if we got him last season but right now, his health and contract look ugly as a mother lover with wet facial hair.

Lets be honest, his numbers last year suck only because he was a Clipper...
Ask yourself this....... DID ANY CLIPPER LAST YEAR EVEN TRY OR LOOK GOOD PLAYING?

Davis prob just blew the season off..... who wouldnt? That place is just horrible....

If he is the kind of guy who would quit competing when things get tough, he is the kind of guy I most certainly don't want on this team.
