Walker was never a good post player. he was a 6'10 versitile guy who could or thought he could shoot the 3, he was a good rebounder, and could pass. He was never a good post player though.
Back in the days when Walker was an all-star, he consistently scored inside. Maybe not all post up moves(been so long so I can't remember), but definitely unstoppable in the paint. It's not like he kept putting up 18+ppg seasons because he could shoot.
walker had his moments. remember that comback vs the nets? at least he had heart (at times). Randolph......no frickin way.
I don't know if I would even call Randolph a 'low post' player. The guy catches it about 18 feet away, faces up, and shoots the jumper. He's very good at it, but I can't recall him ever being a true post-up guy. He's also good on the offensive boards with a nice touch around the basket. But the fact that people are still tempted by the numbers and willing to bring him in is pretty incredible at this point. Even the Knicks have realized that he's not worth having, and the only team that would have ever been dumb enough to take him from them was the Clippers.
Have you ever watched the Celtics vs. Nets games in playoffs where Walker was matched up against Kenyon Martin? Unstoppable? It was downright embarrassing for Walker. And we are talking Martin here, not Bill Russell.
