I have a dog door, which makes it easier. I just had her go back with me in the yard every hour or so (or whenever she gets restless) and wait until she peed. Pretty quickly, she got the idea that she can go out by herself. I also have been kenneling her at night.
I dug this thread up, the other pet thread reminded me of it. Belle is still at our house and rules the roost. She is around 40 lbs, but my 70 and 80 lbs dogs defer to her in all matters. She gets the rawhide bones, nobody else. She sits with my husband in his chair at night and watches tv. My college son discovered that she really loves beer. Woe to anyone who drinks a long neck in my house without sharing the dregs with Belle.
