No way would I want him as a Rocket. The same thing that makes him the best player in the world today is what also makes him a horrible fit for a "nakama" atmosphere like the current Rockets locker room.
To be honest, I hate Kobe, I can't deny his talent and attitude, but he really played selfish and dirty. I can't image that he as a Rockets.
to be fair, if the opportunity presented itself, why wouldn't the rockets take it? His personality would fit fine in Houston since nobody is really selfish (he can't get along with others like him). He's a great go-to guy who can finish and shoot jumpers. He's awesome in the 4th quarter too and draws alot of fouls.
First of all, this has about a 0% chance of happening. But if it were possible, the Rockets would jump all over it and they should. Kobe is exactly the type of player that Yao needs with him. We would instantly become the favorites to win it all if you take our team that ended the season and added Kobe to it.
I guess my question is what do the Lakers gain by trading Kobe to us for Tmac. I mean I know they get the money next summer but basically TMac MIGHT play the last couple months of the season next year. If I am the Lakers and Kobe wants to walk I let him and use next year a quick rebuild. Just don't spend the money you save by kobe walking, you probably finish middle of the pack in the west, get a decent pick, and have the cash...which is probably where they would be if they did the trade except they wouldn't be helping us a ton in the process...ONLY way they would even consider it is if we took some stupid contracts along with it which IMO would be worth it.
Shaq isn't a total a$$hole and doesn't resort to dirty tactics when things don't go well like Kobe does.
This seems increbly far fetched but having tolerated Clemens on the Stros I could tolerate Kobe on the Rox.
Simmons is like Jerome Williams for the chronicle... Their recipe for "success' is throw sticky crap around that stinks of intrigue, although it is entirely baseless and then let people have at it. Paul to Houston Bryant to Houston Whats next?
Well if his twitter is to be believed, Artest started following Simmons there on the advice of Morey. Not sure I do know more about bball than Simmons, Artest, or Morey. "@sportsguy33 Hey man, Daryl told me to follow you because you're a funny guy that knows basketball. We'll see....2:41 PM May 22nd from web in reply to sportsguy33" http://twitter.com/Real_Ron_Artest Kobe is as hell-bent on winning as our guys. They would mesh. Our guys are used to T-Mac and his throne on the bench: Kobe would be no worse.
It is called morals...... NO championship is worth compromising them for him. Rapist, adulterer, womanizer, dirty player, ego maniac = cancer. There is a reason his nickname is "All Me" Bryant. No thanks, I like the Chris Paul deal better.
Either one has about a 0.01% chance of happening. WTH would Kobe waive his no-trade for Houston? You know Buss is going to spend the money to keep the Lakers together. It's kinda laughable how we're all like "eww, Kobe, I would never accept him on my basketball team, he has no morals!" when he'd probably be like "b**** please, WTH would I accept a trade to the Rockets?"
If Shaq isn't totally an a$$hole he's pretty damn close to it. Anyone who wants an aging, non-work ethic, fat Shaq over Kobe is not in his right state of mind. I'm not saying we go get Kobe, but c'mon be realistic.
Good analogy there but I'm not sure if it's enough... Kobe...Good for team wins...sure...Good for team image...I don't know. Kobe as a player, phenomenal. Kobe as a person, something else. Hard to swallow.
My worst nightmare! I would be forced to cheer for Kobe. Even if we won the championsip it would be tainted but... we could win the championship. Aghhhh!
Clearly! But, if given the choice, it is Paul for me. The above is just one reason of many (age, leadership, selfishness, etc.). That said, personally, I do not care what "All Me" thinks. He is a crappy human being. I absolutely could NOT cheer for a Rockets team with him on it. We have had crazies and all other types that I have not cared for, but, he is the bottom of the barrel. He personifies everything that I am against as a man. Even his "hard work" ethos has periods where IT takes on the quitter mentality if things are not going his way. He has adopted the California shallow mentality that I just despise. He is perfect fit for that culture.
Kobe? I say bring him on. I trade for him right now! You many posters don't get is that when you have a chance to get a once a decade player in him PRIME you get him. You don't if he pays his taxes or if he cheats on his wife, or if he leaves the top up in the restroom. NO! You get him now!
