Does anyone know if the height/weight measurements of players attending the Chicago pre-draft camp is made public? ... if so where is it possible to access that info? ... I am sort of interested to see if Caron Butler is 6'7 without shoes or if the report that he is 6'5 1/2 in shoes is true ... or if DeJuan Wagner is 6'3 240 ( ) or 6'1 170 ...
Weights and measurements will be taken today at the camp; they will probably end up on ESPN.com (at least ESPN Insider) and on Chris Monter's website at www.monterdraftnews.com (unless he makes it subscription-only). NBADraft.net might even have it. That said, given time, it should make it's way here as well.
Thanks mduke and mfclark ... I agree there is no way that Wagner weighs 240 ... I just used it as an example on what you can find on the net now ...
Every year, a couple guys shrink, and a couple guys grow. It can really affect stocks. Jerome Moiso's stock soared when he measured 7'0'', as opposed to his listed 6'10''. Guys that it'll mainly make a big difference for are the guys that are almost too short to play PF, or since there's a lot of PF/C, guys that are on the edge between the two-the ability to play C can really help a guy's stock. This absolutely destroyed Chris Porter-he went from a slightly small PF that was a high lotto pick to a just right SF that was a first rounder(6'7'' with hops), to an undersized SF (6'4''.5 I think) that went mid 2nd round. There was hype he would go #1 overall before he just kept shrinking. Also watch for small shooting guards-I heard Freddie Jones only measured 6'2'' with shoes. That probably cost him from 20s (guaranteed money) to more likely 2nd round.
Darth-It shouldn't be as big a problem for him because he has shooting ability. Even if he's a 6'5'' SG, he's lotto talent. Porter couldn't shoot a lick. Anyhow, foxsports.com has updated some of their heights-not sure if it's with or without shoes, I'd guess without. I'll mention some of the key ones- Drew Gooden: 6-9.5 Amare Stoudemire: 6-9.5 Nene Hilario: 6-9.5 Marcus Haislip: 6-8.5 Qyntel Woods: 6-8.5 Caron Butler: 6-6.5 This tells me-Gooden has legit PF size. He needs to put on some more weight but he has the physical tools and skill set to be a PF. I think Hilario's height is without shoes, which puts him between 6-10 and 6-11; with his combination of wingspan, and leaping ability, as well as weight/body frame, he should be able to play center. Same with Stoudemire, if this is without shoes, assuming he has a decent wingspan. Haislip isn't quite as tall as expected, but he wasn't expected to be a PF/C combo type, so it shouldn't hurt him really. Woods may have measured a little taller than the 6'9'' he was thought to be with shoes. He was never in trouble anyway, so it probably doesn't help him a lot, but doesn't hurt. Butler measured about where he should've expected-he's not going to be on the tall side for SF, but assuming that's without shoes, it should be enough for him to be considered physically ok to play SF.
Nevermind. Found what I was looking for from FOXsports; hopefully some place will publish all of the official measurements sometime this weekend.
