If this deal were EVER to go down. I'd garauntee that Chris Paul would make Yao a super star player and make Ron Artest think he's an older version of LeBron... wait... nvm he already thinks he is.

But I do know that he will be that much better thats just how good CP3 is. And I'm pretty sure Morey wouldn't gut our team just to get a super star like Paul. He will let go of the essentials and make a trade here or there if needed. This is going to be interesting how everything pans out from the off-season to the trade deadline this year.

I hope that if we do get a ring cause of our moves, people don't blame it on the economic crisis, just like they make the excuse that cause Jordan retired we got our back-to-backs. Simpletins.

    And done. ;)

Sorry but the Hornets are not getting bailed out this easily. You overspend and mismanage your team you do not get bailed out by the Rockets. As I posted in the vulture thread, the Hornets are royally ****ed financially and they are going to have to make major moves or they will have to cease operations.

I'd give McGrady/Brooks/Landry/Barry/Dorsey (3 expirings, 2 cheap up and comers) for Paul/Peja/Chandler which basically gives the Hornets a get out of jail free card for the just awful contracts they have in Peja/Chandler...but never all four of our studs (Scola, Battier, Brooks, Landry). Our team is excellent because of the great contracts these underated players have. The Hornets are awful because they have overpaid, overated scrubs like Chandler and Peja.

There is just no way in hell I would ever do that deal as originally posted, it is financial and team suicide.

I would definitely want to find a way to keep either Scola or Landry and I'd hate to see Battier go - but you can't say no to a 24 year old superstar like Chris Paul. He's not just the best point guard in the game, he's a top 5 player in the league and I'll be shocked if he never wins an MVP award. And the fact we could still resign Artest - Yao, Artest and Paul is a hell of a core. Like others have said, I'm pretty sure Morey can manage to fill in the gaps around that.

How could you possibly say no to this deal? I really can't see N.O. seriously dealing CP3 though.

I would do this; Morey has proven he can find role players and fill out the roster. Especially with other teams looking to dump role players for financial reasons, if Les wants to go over the luxury tax threshold.

If the Rockets got Paul, you'd have to resign Von just for the entertainment value of the Paul thrown alley-oops.

My thoughts exactly. Those guys are the first defense the Rockets have played since JVG.

I doubt Morey would take on all those crappy contracts in exchange for all our well-thought-out contracts, even if it brings Chris Paul to Houston. They're the desperate ones, not Houston.

Paul is my fav player, and I say no to this deal.. just demolishes depth AND the future for something that's far from a sure thing

I agree that's giving up way too much and I'm sure Morey and Rick know that. Getting Chris Paul sounds awesome but not scrapping the future for it. A.B. and Lowery are not scrubs themselves and can definitely hold their own. It seems to me that Charlotte is the one in a more desperate situation. If we could keep Scola and Brooks and still get the job done that sounds more reasonable. Of coarse resigning Ron since we're gonna lose Shane.

Terrible trade if it happens. Everyone assumes that Morey will be able to find key pieces (which he has) but in what time frame? It has taken him a few years to build this current squad or at least it has taken a few years for this squad to develop the way it has. How many years can Yao Ming wait?

I would sign this deal so fast ... before they changed their minds.

... but, if they made comments about trying to save more money, I like NikeStrads suggestions. If it WERE possible to keep Battier or Scola or Landry somehow, that'd be great, since Cook would give them more financial relief, and it protects our depth. I think Chandler will get healed, though, and be a super defensive player again.

... but, to get Paul for any amount of our players is a steal. He was just MVP, and is early in his career.

    Yao/Dorsey
    Chandler/Hayes
    Peja/Posey
    Artest/Wafer/White
    Paul/Lowry

... Morey would have to find us some depth, no doubt. I know this team just took LA to game 7, and is hardworking and scrappy, and you hate to fool with something that is working, and lose your Kobe stopper, but this would be a strong offensive and defensive AND offensive team, with very interchangeable pieces, and the chance of having Paul for the next 10 years would be something one shouldn't pass up.

We always have a tendency to OVERVALUE our players, especially our role players, and then miss out on great deals. Getting a top 10 player is almost impossible to get, especially when you already have 1, and having the best players do win championships. Paul has the same hard work ethic that this team has already built. He would flourish here, and would be a great inside outside combination.

Our role players just did something almost historic. I know thats a basis for keeping them, but its also when their trade value is at their highest, and you can actually trade for a top 10 player. I think this is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the economic situation.

If you do a deal like that you are clearly going all in

And eventually we would get the best player in the deal

That being said i'd look long and hard before signing off on that

    Thanks but no thanks!

the lineup of CP3, Artest, Peja, Chandler,Yao, Powey,Lowry,Hayes immediately gives Houston a title shot. Better offense and similar defense.

I'm probably too sentimental, but no way I would do the original deal. It would rip the heart and soul out of our team.
