I had wondered this when I got older, and it was confirmed by VH1... your 80's one-hit wonder information source and my source for "yes, I know people with Ph.D.'s aren't supposed to be watching this" light and fluffy entertainment.
Isabel -- I had thought they were controversial because their first version of the video for "Relax" consisted of a circle jerk session at a gay s/m bar. Needless to say, MTV asked them to tone it down a tad.
Mrs. JB/Isabel or anyone else who would know: Didn't Holly Johnson (the lead singer) or some other member of the group die of AIDS?? I thought that I heard that somewhere, like maybe VH-1 BTW - all these threads is tempting me to do a "Favorite Flock of Seagulls Song". However, unlike some of these wannabes, I know more than one song for them... "I Ran" for a Flock of Seagulls. I also know "Space Age Love Song" and "Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)"
