Character building playoff runs rarely amount to jack. It takes superstars to win in the NBA, and you normally get them though the draft, unless unique circumstances allow you to trade for them, or sign them though free agency.

I think it's great that the Rockets pushed LA to seven games, but I wouldn't hesitate to trade that for a top three pick, especially with the GM we have.

BTW, you could even make an argument that playoff runs are bad for the franchise, because it misleads management into think they're closer than they really are. Fortunately, Morey has already dropped the hammer on that concern by acknowledging it would be a mistake to think the team should stand pat.

So you want us to have a miserable season like the clippers or better yet out do em in the loser standing (19-63) so we can get more pings balls and HOPE enought to out #1 draft pick? LMAO i rather not suffer a yr just to HOPE the #1 draft pick isn't a BUST. It's like asking a guy would you like to score on the first date or wait until the relationship blossom :D

Well if the Rockets took the Hawks route of losing for several years and held out for another few years...maybe we can have a semi-decent playoff run with no expectation of a title as well.

    Personally, I prefer winning

    how about both?
going deep into the playoffs, then trading up for a high pick.
kinda like us going all the way to 7 games against the lakers in the 2nd round,
then trading tmac for a top3 pick?? ahh...

wtf? why would anyone wanna do that, would you break a 12 year curse and go seven games with the lakers or take a draft pick that has a great possibility of being a bust???

I wouldn't trade the playoff run for anyone one of these guys. Only if I were getting Hakeem or Michael Jordan and that to with some reluctance.

I was one of the few to vote high pick over a failed run. In the end, any run that doesn't end up with a championship is worthless years later... with a high pick you may have a chance to convert on one of those close chances.

    Just my opinion.

PS - still kind of a dumb question, b/c the difference between the quality of season required to get a high draft pick and have a great playoff run is pretty dramatic.
