    Ok, ok, ok, ok..

I'm going to make this real clear for the last time.

IT DOESEN'T MATTER, it's called a one, two punch. They compliment each other. Do you guys think you'll get immediate production if you substitute brooks with lowry and vice versa.

I could care less, but how about we leave it as it is so we can avoid a pride problem..... cough*A.I.*cough.

I think Lowery's comparison to Earl Watson is dead-on, but Lowery does seem to attack the rim a little bit more, while Watson may have been the better defender, but thats just nit-picking.

I think Aaron Brooks has the potential to be a Tony Parker type of point guard. The difference between the 2, Parker has about 4 inches and quite a few pounds on AB.

He was also always a better finisher around the basket because of his size. AB is a better outside shooter than Parker was back in his early days, and still may be a slightly better oustide shooter than Parker. However, Parker rarely settles for those outside shots.

I hope AB develops a higher basketball IQ the way Parker did, but only time will tell. I say Lowery is a better fit, simply because our starting unit does not need more scoring with Yao, Scola, Artest, and possibly Tmac. If Battier is starting instead of Artest, then maybe I'd go back to brooks.

I don't understand people saying we don't need any more scoring in the starting lineup. This doesn't make sense to me. They rox don't have enough guys that can score consistently. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the rockets scored more in the 1st qt once brooks got the keys. He is one of the few rox that don't need yao to get a good shot. That's why scola and shane struggles when teams don't double yao or play man and a half. Neither guy takes contested shots much and in the nba, that's what seperates players in the nba. The good players can generate point or create enough space to score with a defender guarding them.Brooks starting puts the pressure on the defense from the opening tip.Teams have to account for him because if not, he can drop points in bundles. Teams know this and now their eyes are up looking at brooks, thus allowing yao to get less attention.

If McGrady does return to the starting lineup, I'd rather have Brooks. He plays very well with McGrady and the two would form a devastating backcourt combo on offense, with McGrady carrying the larger share of playmaking/post entry responsibilities and Brooks having more freedom to shoot and attack. Lowry would also fit better in the second unit with Artest and Landry as a playmaking point guard.

Without McGrady though, it's a more difficult question. The question to me is how much Lowry can improve his 3 point shot. If he can do so significantly, then he becomes a much more viable candidate for starting point guard. Personally I see a higher ceiling for Brooks than Lowry -- I think he has the potential to become a borderline all star. His development is eerily similar to that of Tony Parker, and if he can improve his finishing around the basket by that much, he'll be pretty close to unguardable.

I agree with the 1st paragraph entirely. Lowry definitely needs to improve his 3 point shot. Aaron can become a very good scorer if he learns how to finish better, but the main difference between him and Tony Parker is the latter's court vision and passing ability. Tony is also taller and a bit bigger than him.

tell me if this makes sense

lowry shouldnt start the game because cause he pushes the ball which would fit better with the rockets 2nd unit

with yao in the game brooks can spot up for 3's which he likes....so i say keep it how it is but maybe give lowry some more minutes

Right on point....I guess if Lowry is in the game then teams will stop fronting Yao, and out of some miracle, he will be able to catch the ball...like I said before, some plays yao gets out worked or gets in a bad position that Magic johnson couldnt get him the ball

Fair enough but how many minutes and how did they play with? Those to me are important points that need to be addressed too.

If brooks can learn to pass, then whatever happens to lowry, I will pick brooks.

If brooks continues the way he is playing and Lowry improves his shots from outside, I pick lowry

If Lowry stays the same, I pick brooks no matter what happens to him

how much can each improve and what happen in per-season, there's just too much if. Right now for me, i would go with lowry because you can't coach size.

Jack Sikma makes a great point in this video.

"There's no better learning environment than playoff pressure basketball. If you can get that early in your career, you blossom a lot faster. And I think [Brooks] has taken advantage of that good fortune."

I really agree with this, and I think we're going to see some major improvements in Brooks in the next season or two.

Lowry needs to work on 3 point shooting and Brooks needs to work on being a distributor. Either one starting is fine for me.

Aaron and Lowry are 2 completely different players. I believe Lowry should start on this current starting team since he is more of a pass first pg. Aaron is more a run a gun type of pg which is perfect to fit our bench with landry and Von. That is just my opinion.

However I think Aaron is a capable starter but for this team, i think lowry may be a better starter.

Brooks has more upside, some of which we saw in the playoffs. I would like to see him continue to grow with this team as the starter.

How does Aaron have more of an upside? Keep in mind that when he entered the draft that he played 4 years in Oregon. 4 freakin' years at point guard and he still has one of the lowest IQ's in the league and doesn't know how to play that position right.

I'm sick of these he's young comments. Keep in mind, that Brooks is actually 1 year older than Kyle Lowry.

Lowry has more of the upside and should start for sure. I don't know who is better, but Lowry has more of an upside. It's a lot easier improving the 3 point shot, than it is to get a better point guard like mentality. The last point guard to ever come to the league as a scorer and transform to a passer was Mr. Big Shot, Chauncey Billups.

In my opinion and as somebody else said, you have a better chance in the league improving your 3 point shot than you do improving your passing and decision making skills.
