Did anyone come up with a translation yet?
I got two from the alt.language.latin newsgroup:

    1. Alii sunt duces natu; alii, labore adsiduo.

    2. Duces fiunt alii natura; alii continuo labore.

Any experts care to comment on these translations?

    That translator really sucks.

fadeaway, which kind of Latin do you want that phrase to be translated in? I'm learning Classical Latin, but I am aware that there are other kinds.

In the two translations you have, alii supposedly means others, but I think that's wrong. I think ceteri is the proper Latin word for others.

Alii means both "some" and "others" from what I understand.

What other kind of Latin is there aside from Classical? Surely there isn't such a thing as "modern Latin." That'd be an oxymoron.

I think there is a Medievil Latin, but I am not sure. Our teacher never mentioned the other types.
