Guess I should have read the pole more closely, but you should modify the thread title to more accurately reflect what this pole signifies.

I answered the pole in response to "Is Yao the best player in the league." The answer is an obvious and resounding NO (though I love Yao...no hatin' here). Kobe is definitely the best player in the league. LeBron would be a close second, but he still doesn't have the defensive skills that Kobe does, and I'd still rather have Kobe shooting a game winning shot at the end of the game.

Wow, there's some pretty crazy people in here. 18 or 19 people would rather have Duncan or Nowitzki?!? Duncan's past his prime and Nowitzki is so, so much softer with a non-existent post game and defense compared to Yao. I can see people picking LeBron, Wade, and Kobe, but some of the others make me wonder how much basketball the members here really know.

Well you can judge the poll by looking at the percentage of votes. The higher the number the better they are in the eyes of this board.

Yao is great when the situation is OK but when teams start fronting, Yao completely disappears. You also have to take into consideration that for the last few seasons, Yao has been injured for a good part of each season where as Neither Duncan or Nowitzki have not missed any substantial time. I would rather taken a consistent and slightly lower output throughout the season AND the playoffs than a slightly better season with high chances of season ending injuries...

That's only partially true. Some people (and rightfully so) factored in age/experience/contract/bodily wear and tear/etc. So, from that perspective, perhaps some of the votes would have changed. Not guaranteed, but possibly. :)

You get worse by the day. You did this just to irritate and ruffle this board didnt you? hence no vote from me.

You answered it yourself. Yao is one of the best in the league. Kobe and Lebron are cut above the rest at this point. You cannot argue against their talent, productivity and certainly reliability.

If this board really votes Carmelo above Yao then I have nothing more to add. Duncan is a great player but Yao plays him favorably. Dwight gets schooled by Yao every single time they face. No big man can stop Yao and Yao can stop them. I know this is not 1v1 debate but that has to play in the equation. Roy is talented but again like someone said its comparing apples to oranges. They are good in their own way.

Yao is definitely one of the top 10 guys in the league. Lebron and Kobe are the 2 guys above the pack. Rest depends on your preference.

I'd put Yao before Duncan, cuz TD is old now.

About 255 regular posters who are Rockets Fans, have no appreciation for the Rocket's Cornerstone Player. What a state of mind to be in!! :p

He's the oldest of the bunch. And going by historical trends for big men, he may only have 3 or 4 good years left before a sharp decline.

Depends if they're fronting yao and sending the double team before he gets the ball, otherwise I would only trade him for Lebron. Look at portland, their entire Defensive placements were directed at stopping yao. I just wish he were 24 years old again, he still looks younger than some 20 year olds in the league. :p

lol. CP3>wade, kobe, and howard in today's NBA. Why so few votes?

This prolly proves how stupid our beloved board members are.
